Dilute??

Re: Dilute??
Yeh, I must say my first thought was black too. Well a black that will have quite a bit of sabinoy roan through it. But on further looking the shade looked a bit diluted, like the platinum look of a silver maybe?? Dunno, it was different enough that I was curious what you guys thought.
Lavender lol ...my first thought was black :flower
forgive me, im hatching more purple chickens this weekend lol i have lavender on teh brain.
I haven't been hatching purple chicks and I still thought lavender :rofl
Re: Dilute??
I thought lilac too LOL. Or sort of mauve.
My opinion is: Depends on the colour balance of the photos, if it leans to the bluey and less to the yellowy the baby could be palomino (a parent could be smokey black) or black. I've seen baby cobs that were born very pale latte turn black, I think its a waiting game, or test.

Re: Dilute??
Ooh, I know this is OT but I always regret not buying a clutch of lavender Araconas when I had the chance....they were, hmm, expensive does not quite cover it!
Then my flipping friend goes and gives a whole bunch ot a mutual friend and, when I did a tap dance on his head looked dense and said "well, I did not know you wanted any"
ARGH!!!! :hammer :BH

Nothing more unique then something purple that lays green eggs lol
Re: Dilute??
Well I want a hen and rooster that colour....and an adult horse the colour of the foal! :bounce :bounce ;;) =p~ =p~ =p~ Both are gorgeous! I also thought silver black sabino when I first saw the foal, especially since the mane is very white, doesnt look just like foal shading.

Re: Dilute??
I'm still none the wiser on this foal. The breeders haven't got back to me, but have updated their website with new pictures. Third foal down I think, Silver Dolly. I still don't really know who the sire is as it just says son of woolly mammoth, who is one of their stallions and they have heaps of his sons. But they are usually named :? The mare is just black from the newborn foal pictures.

On the home page I have noticed today that their sabino1 stallion has tested as being Champagne??? I'll start a new post for him though.
edit to correct spelling ;)
Re: Dilute??
Did you notice on the fillies pg--- Pink Dolly..
Her head shot appears to be similar in adult colour..
My gut feel on this foal is that she is a brown base with cream and very sabino which gives the really light over tone... anyway just a guess ;) I don't think silver at all now!!
But wouldn't suprise me if the next claim is that Flash Harry has also been tested as a silver!!! :rofl
Re: Dilute??
I'm pretty sure the "pink" palomino mare isn't cream, just a pale red sabino roan looking colour. I've seen a picture of her somewhere....
She looks similar to the Palomino Ruby's Girl's, dam, on the fillies for sale page.
Thing is I don't think this place has a lot of dilutes, I can't think of any off hand, but then they have hundreds of horses so they'd probably have a couple tucked away. They have HEAPS of roans, sabino roans, greys etc.. as you might have noticed! Which does point at this foal being more likely being a very pale sabino/roaning expression of some sort :?
Re: Dilute??
Right now I'm going to say black silver, but I am very willing to consider other possibilities (including, believe it or not, just black).
