Chestnut changed.... to???

I bought a foal this spring. He was a rich red chestnut. Sire is a grey Tobiano; I do not know his base colour. He has produced several non-grey foals. Dam is a rich bay Sabino. His pedigree is extensively pinto and and solid with no appaloosa for many generations back, at least 6 or 7 generations back on both parents. Pictured at a week old: [IMG]http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a225/midnightstarstables/2011%20foals…] [IMG]http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a225/midnightstarstables/2011%20foals…] At two months he began exhibiting "grey": [IMG]http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a225/midnightstarstables/2011%20foals…] [IMG]http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a225/midnightstarstables/2011%20foals…] Now at four months, he is...? Grey, Sabino, Grey+Sabino or Appaloosa? I'm just making sure it doesn't look like an appaloosa trait. [IMG]http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a225/midnightstarstables/2011%20foals…] Thanks.

That looks like a very typical Splash face mark to me, not Sabino- not to say he does not also have Sabino, of course.
Very smart foal, what is his breeding?

:toast very nice foal :love ...it's amazing what grey can do to a base color... :-?

Thank you all.

I also have a black Gulastra Plume Sabino mare and a minimal Frame or Sabino (pending test) 1/2 blue eyed bay filly.

My other horses are just "normal" colours. A Frame+Sabino, Perlino and a grey. I love colour genetics.
