Can the test results be wrong?

I recently had my horse color tested for the cream gene so that I could register him with the Dilute Association. It came back negative for cream, but I'm still so convinced that he is Black Buckskin. His sire and dam were both Black Buckskin (not tested, unfortunately) and up till now I have been showing my horse in the Dilute classes and he has been winning and placing highly in tough competition. The people I've asked (including the knowledgeable registrar of the dilute association) have told me that they also think he is Black Buckskin.

I had him tested with Animal Genetics US. Should I get him re-tested or is there no way the result was incorrect?

It happens but it is rare.   There is no harm in having him retested although I would prepare yourself.  Most likely the second test will be negative for cream as well.

By Black Buckskin you are referring to black with one Copy of the Cream gene?

Why are you set on him being dilute?
I have a mare I was certain was a dilute of some sort, but she tested negative for everything and is a chocolate color year round.
