Brown help please?

I wish I had a picture of it, but I'm confused on a horse I met this weekend, Kiwi (shameless plug: BUY HER) The couple that owns her asked me about her color. He says she's black, she says she's bay. I believe her papers say bay, because any brown hair meant that they were not black. She's all black with a brown muzzle, which I think is brown, correct? From what I understand it is present year-round http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQ8-c9jID_I" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lj9bzqrio6M" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Brown still tests as bay in most places, I get all the hub bub over the shade, but some day it will be kinda like Palomino is sorrell with a CR , it will be brown is bay with "**"

I doubt that Heather... at least not that specific analogy. Cream is a gene that goes on top of sorrel. Brown is a gene that takes the place of bay.

That mare is definitely brown.

Oh pretty pretty girl - she can come live with me :D
Before I learned anything about colour and genetics I would have called her dark bay we had a few TB's in the racing yard that looked black but had the brown muzzle and sometimes around the eyes.
My mare Rosie is like that so I suppose she could be brown or dare I say seal brown :lol:
