from a different place...allllmost there...the tail is just dipped though..lol

they say she is minimal tobiano..but is she really? Her sire is this guy here (2nd one on page) http://www.evenhavenhorses.com/studs.ht…" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and he looks splash and tobiano to me.

Zeuss' Foxy Socks is that filly's name. Barons Dun Doll (AQHA) is listed as her dam, but no pic of her on there.

but there is a picture of her full sibling born a year later:

Ha. I just commented on your facebook too. This farm has been buying up minimal tobianos for, oh, at least a decade now. They are good at grooming and photography and they ask outrageous prices. Nice to look at though.

TheRedHayflinger Thu, 04/22/2010 - 06:08

yes..I did notice the prices were waaaaay out there. I do love that particular set of markings though....my other "childhood dream horse color" was similar to this too....remember the baby pegasi in Fantasia? the little black one with white mane/tail and the white muzzle. I wanted a real horse like that....I had horse coloring books FULL of them all colored in those two patterns..haha

so...I've seen bays marked like this, and blacks more often...but can chestnuts mark up like this? just face/leg white and white around the tail (and maybe a few smaller spots of white elsewhere?) I don't recall seeing too many minimal marked chestnuts, and the ones I have seen seemed to show their white on different spots of the body.

Like someone else mentioned (maybe it was on Facebook because I don't see it here) the closest I have seen on a chestnut base is four tall stockings and a white-streaked skunk tail. It was on an Arabian mare I was looking at for a student back before I was interested in color so I'd say she was sabino, maybe splash, and rabicano. I have not seen minimal tobiano like this on a chestnut though.

I remember wanting a black horse with a white mane and tail and a white horse with a black mane and tail. :P

I lived in the 636 section of the library, and there was one book that had what looked like a palomino in it but now I think back it was tooo shiny more like one of those alteke (sp?) things ... :love when I was in like 1st grade I would bring the book home and make my dad look at it LOL

I used to call those "black" palominos (since I had no idea about silver back then), and a friend of mine, when I lived in Connecticut, bought a WB filly like that. I was sooo jealous, especially as I owned my one and only chestnut then.

well...my favorite horse color is, and always will be black...on a mare...*drool*

my very first horse was a nearly solid black TWH mare (had a small heel spot and a white spot just above the hoof in the front on same foot and that was it)..she was the one that surprised me with a gold champagne baby (who I believe was splash white just from his markings)

now my only black is a pinto who is a good 90% white..LOL

When I was a kid, our neighbors had a black horse with a white mane & tail, and four white socks. I was so used to seeing that horse that I didn't realize what an unusual color it was. I've never seen another one like it.
