True Roan in Akhal Tekes

Alright I always thought that true roan did not exist in Akhal tekes, that it was just mistaken for rabicano and sabino ticking. But I recently ran into a person that insists breeders and genetic resources told her that there used to be two lines which are now extinct. Thoughts?

It is not impossible. There are many many breeds in Europe who were much more colorful in the past than they are today.
