Somatic mutation

My AQHA palomino mare has a large light cream marking on her right side. It was not noticeable when she was a foal, but it is clear now. Someone suggested that it was a somatic mutation. She is a palomino With a white stripe on her face.

Her color lineage is:

Dam is chestnut with white stripe on her face and a white sock. Her sire was a palomino. Her dam was black.

Sire is palomino.

I would appreciate any information on this marking.

Chestnut hairs in tail

I forgot to add that she is darker in the winter with her longer coat, but the marking is still visible, and that she has chestnut hairs in her tail, but not in her mane.

In that picture it looks like

In that picture it looks like a white spot.    Is the skin pink underneath it?

Skin is gray

No, the skin is gray underneath both areas - the regular cream color and the lighter area.

In that case, I would have to

In that case, I would have to agree that it's a somatic mutation.
