solid tobi

this on the APHA facebook page today:
Do you own a "slipped" or solid tobiano? We are searching for Paints who are genetically tobianos (preferably confirmed through DNA testing) but are registered as solids for an upcoming article in the Paint Horse Journal. Send your horse's registered name and your contact information (e-mail and phone) to feedback@apha.com by November 1.
Isn't that cool? They actually contacted me to discuss my thoughts on suppression and tobi. I know they're looking for lots of photos of very minimal tobis and I hope they find all they need. I'm sending everything I come across.

Nice. I know of a buckskin who tested positive for Tobi and only has 4 low socks. I unfortunately don't remember the horse's name or what barn they were from, I saved the picture quite awhile ago.

Well Well, funny thing is, is that I just asked them a few months ago if they would ever use confirmed DNA testing to register a horse with regular papers that would have solid papers according to their rules. Doc would qualify for this right now because he is a Tobiano with solid papers but they just changed the rules on JAN 1 so that now he does have enough white and all I have to do is take pics of his back socks (that now only have to be 2" above the hock) and send the pics in with status change paperwork. So he probably wouldn't qaulify for this article under the new less white guidlines. I may just email them anyway and see.
Another reason I think DNA results would be useful is alot of time they will register minimals that are Tobi's as Overos  .

I would send it anyway. I think they could use some that are more obviously tobi but still minimal instead of just the kind that don't even look tobi.

Yeah I suspect they'll like that. He has spots too so even better!

I sent Doc's DNA sample in on thursday to animal genetics last week because I didn't actually have a positve DNA test that he was Tobi yet, I didn't really need it, but since I submitted his pics for the article I decided to submit his DNA real quick hoping they would get back to me fast. I already got them emailed to me today, boy they are really fast and he did come back nT (we new that) but it is kind of fun to have the test result esspecially since he is registered solid. I knew he would come back nT because he sire was solid QH (no white) but his dam was HZ Tobiano.
Hopefully I will hear back from APHA now :YMSMUG: .
