Sire is perlino....foal now grey!!!WTF?

How is it possible that my foal can have greyed out when the mare was bay and the sire was a perlino!!?? Foal was born a dun with clear white goggles and is now almost white with a very grey mane and tail!

Sire is either perlino+grey, or not the actual sire. The foal probably isn't dun either, just looks dun from the greying process and if the sire is perlino, the foal would be a dilute too (buckskin/palimino/smokey black).

Was the sire's sire or dam gray? If so he's most likely perlino + gray. Because of the very light coat and skin of a perlino it can be difficult to tell if they also carry gray.

I agree with CMH, Daylene and RMT....just because the sire is perlino doesn't mean there isn't another dilute, modifier or white pattern - in this case it's grey.
