Paint mare -- what pattern(s)?

Re: Paint mare -- what pattern(s)?
Sabino and splash! The way the white is staying off the chest, I must admit it does look Tobi. It and splash having the "argument". We had a homozygous tobi (tested) once that was posted here that had not a lick of phenotypical Tobi - I think he had a snip and sock. That was it. Tobi doesn't usually hide, but it can!
Re: Paint mare -- what pattern(s)?
Ok im slightly confused are people saying this mare ISN'T tobi??
The mare imo is definitely tobiano. the roaning is probably sabino but I wouldnt rule out rabicano.
RMT is not one to beat around the bush! If ShaydedBleu had not specifically stated it was impossible, I'm sure that would be in there - O wait, it's the roan that's impossible.
Edited for mis-reading! I thought the Tobi was stated as impossible, but it's the roan! Roan is impossible. I like the rabi theory with tobi and perhaps all patterns but frame - sabino and splash too.
Re: Paint mare -- what pattern(s)?
Yes, it is the roan that I was indicating is genetically impossible, as both parents were very clearly chestnut. This mare's dam was actually registered as a tovero (medicine hat, chest shield, and one large irregular splotch on each flank), but the sire was 50/50 chestnut/white (if I remember correctly).
Sabino was my first thought as well. I'm interested in knowing what about her indicates each of the traits (splash, sabino, tobi, etc.) I'm trying to learn! :)
Edited to ask: I know I've heard that sabino roaning increases with age, which is why I pointed out that she was born this way, and her coloring has not changed. Is that not true, not true in all cases, or...???
Re: Paint mare -- what pattern(s)?
RF- Thank you! We're quite partial to her--she is owned by my mother, and was the first foal we ever bred/raised. She has found her niche as a barrel pony, and my daughter will move up to her from her pony next show season.
lillith- She is not going to be bred. She's the unofficial mascot of the farm, and will spend her life as such. She has nothing to prove. I only posted her because I'm interested in learning more about patterns and genetics, and I think she has neat coloring. ;-)
Re: Paint mare -- what pattern(s)?
well Im not expert but Id guess the roaning is caused by sabino
