New line of silver in AQHA/APHA?

From the owner: Well, all I can say is WOW. I have just received results back from my stallion tests that I had sent to the US. [img]http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm173/trmcintyre73/qpc10_sat_41a_016…] So, results OLWS Positive (I thought this), but he is also nZ (didnt see that coming). He carries silver. Wooohhhhhhoooooooooooo! The bay filly has also tested nZ. He is Justa Cowboy His sire - Just Shameless (IMP USA) His dam - Struttin Miss Molly - a cropout quarter horse bred here in Australia He is a registered paint stallion and I use him to breed halter and hunter under saddle babies. Here in Australia, a horse can still do both as we have no definate halter type. I just send my hair sample to the lab in the US. I use the lab in the US as they charge a 1/4 of the price of what they do here in Australia. So I guess, they would take some from NZ too. Just check with your local post office to see if there is a extra form for you to fill out. Have also attached a pic of the 4 babies playing. As I believe chestnut hides silver, these fillies will all be tested in time. Australia does not allow importation or registration of HyPP positive so he is N/N per his owner.

I'll ask. So this appears to definitely be a new line of silver, then? I don't know the AQHA/APHA silver lines well enough to say for sure myself.

Daylene Alford Sun, 04/10/2011 - 08:05

Well, as long as all the horses in the pedigree are were australian imports then yes, it looks like it. Can you verify with his owner? I'm fairly sure that the australian QH society allowed(s) stock horse blood at least to some extent and silver is much more common in stock horses.

His owner has given permission to use the images in the gallery and said that she is sending in hair samples for his foals and will let me know the results.

He is lovely & spectacular markings.
Have to say though, foundation mares of unknown/unrecorded breeding are not uncommon in the background of Aussie Qh's.
Silver is found in Stockhorses & stockhorses were commonly used in the breeding of QH's here & in fact can still be used in QH breeding here.
Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to see silver popping up in any QH with Aussie foundation breeding. I know of a couple of others QH here that
are silver thanks to their stockhorse heritage.

forgot to ad he is STUNNING!!! and a silver too is the icing on the cake :D

Monsterpony Sun, 04/10/2011 - 23:56

Wait, I thought all the horses were imported in the pedigree. Is that Banderas line from Australian stockhorse breeding?

dakotakdq Mon, 04/11/2011 - 01:29

The foundation he has in his dams sire's side (SUNDAY STRUTIN). Theres a QH foundation mare called BANDERAS GOLDEN WITCH (FM)who is not reg stock horse.

With the amount of progeny from his sire I would be very suprised if the silver came from him and no other silvers have popped up.
