I had a surprise foal. Got the mare last Oct and she wasn't supposed to be bred. Turns out she was! The prev owner had a mini pinto stallion and a mini jack, so I wasn't sure what we'd get. Was hoping for a spotted mini mule (mom's a mini appy), but darn, didn't get that ;) But maybe dad is a Rhodesian Ridgeback dog? ROFL! He has a ridge just like one! Anyone ever see this before? I sure hope it doesn't go away, it's cool ;) Also, I get a lot of chestnuts... I've only had one other bay, who was mostly white (pinto) but where there was color, it was reddish all the way down. This guy, if I shaved him, would be BLACK. How common is that? Just curious. Do you think it means he'll be a DARK bay? I love the color he is now, curious how he'll end up! Oh, that's nothing compared to what it'll get to. At least our lows still go down to the 80s at night. Soon they'll stay triple digits. I hate Az in the summer....

Nope, no A/C. Instead of closed barns, most people (myself included) have "mare motels" which are like corral panels with a roof. Maximum airflow with shade, keeps it as cool as possible. They're used to the heat, and take it better than I do lol!
