Overo, as you mentioned, is a perfectly useless word. It means anything, but tobiano....except that tobianos often have other 'overo' patterns too. Frame is the one that is the best at hiding in anything and is, unfortunately, the lethal one as well. Cropout just means that the person with one or both of the parents didn't know how to tell their horse had a white pattern. Splash and frame are great at hiding. Tobiano is decent at it too though I've personally only seen one tobi that didn't have at least some identifiers to someone that knew what they were looking for. The cropout just have a higher level of expression than its parent. Cropouts can have any of the white patterns.

These are all my opinion:
The first is splash + frame
The second is dominant white
The third is splash + screaming frame- any time you see that huge amount of white on the body with solid legs, frame is involved
The fourth is definitely splash + I think tobiano, but I make no guarantees from that picture

Monsterpony summed up my thoughts as well, but I'm going to bet the last guy has tobiano because of that line going across the croup and how restricted the face markings appear.

No point whatsoever to having a single word that lumps together every pattern except Tobiano- it is a hangover form the days when some people used a generic term to identify patterns that looked similar, nothing else.
I think the first one also has Tobiano- so, what does that make it- a Tovero??
More useless terms.
Just a marketing ploy- add the word "rare" and push the price up!

#1) Frame, Splash and sabino

#2) Splash and sabino

#3) I'm leaning more to frame than anything else, maybe with some sabino in there too.

#4)Frame, and could that be leading to tobiano in the back end? Hard to tell without a full photo.
