Just sharing my mare's lacing

I LOVE lacing :) This is my mini mare, Ruby. This is when I got her, oh... 5 years ago? And this is her today :) [img]http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs666.snc4/60663_1519636225…] She is 17 y/o.

That's very cool!

Is lacing genetic? Like does a horse with lacing have say approx 50% foals that develop lacing?? I have a mare with lacing and I always wondered if she'd throw it?! I only have one foal from her so far, she's just 2yo and doesn't have it yet. Here is a picture from a few years ago, not very clear, I'll see if I can get a better picture of it this summer.

I hope her foals will get it... She's had several, but only two with me. I have them both right now (keeping the daughter, might keep the son but right now he's for sale). her daughter is 2 y/o and doesn't show it now, but it would be hard to tell anyhow with her very sabino-y markings on her back. (old pic obviously, and she has a lot of roaning now)

Her son is an appy with a spotted blanket up to his withers so it wouldn't show on him.

I also have her granddaughter (not out of/by the son and daughter of hers I have) who is 3 and doesn't have it right now. Hope she gets it some day :) She's also pinto, but not so much markings on her back to "hide" it. She's the one in my avatar, whom I've used here and there as an example of a silver bay who looks very much chestnut until you see her shaved photos ;)
