They have GOT to be kidding - $10k for a green partbred TB gelding when right now you can get a decently bred, Jockey Club reg. TB all day long for a faction of that cost....okay, I know they aren't, but geewhiz  !, Also, imho, they are seriously diluded or have ZERO understanding of equine color genetics....and don't get me started on that ad and it's claims :BH .

Oh he's probably a lot of TB, but he ain't "pure" TB. There was a guy, some years back, who was trying to prove something (the strength of Lp?), started with app x TB, and kept breeding back to TB to increase the TB percentage but keep the Lp colouring. Also, Broadway Boogie Woogie (think I have the name right) is 95% holsteiner and has a blanket. So, you can increase the "blood" percentage of one breed once you get that original Lp cross.

I didn't bother to email, but apparently a few people have and yeah, she confirmed that he's half. Which is ridiculous, why they think anyone's going to pay 10K for a do nothing appy lol.

Now if he were a spontaneous mutation of leopard in a PB TB? Ok yeah, I could see paying 10k lol
yeah, they said 1/2 tb, 1/2 app. So, is that technically an App? I dunno if apps allow tb cross like paint does...
Yep. Technically and Appy and assuming sire and dam are registered it could be registered full app.
how did he get LP colouring when mum is a plain bay dun? woulnd that make sire appy and thus not half TB?
Yep, sire would have been the appy.

My biggest problem is that the dam does NOT look bay dun in the photos (could be misleading, but she sure is awfully "bay" to be dun and I don't see ANY primative markings at all). I suspect they are basing the "dun" part not on an acutal parent being dun, but on his lighter tannish red-looking body spots - silly really when you consider all the things Appy does to color... :rofl

Krickette Fri, 01/14/2011 - 10:28

The dam is not bay dun, she's a thoroughbred! Maybe she has counyershading, but she is not dun..

eta: I take it back, I just got this email:
Hi Krickette
The way we figured the breeding he is 7/8 Thoroughbred. His mom is not
registered I have owned her for about 7 years now. She is mostly
Thoroughbred with a little bit of Belgian she is a 5 pointed Dun. His dad
is mostly Thoroughbred with a touch of Appy. He is a black leopard Appy.
I have pictures of both if you would like to see them.
It's a gelding; even if the parents are "unknown", he can be hardshipped in and given full app papers.
