Highlands and Silver

I never realised Highlands had the silver gene, but it seems to be common knowledge in some circles? I reckon they look awesome with dun and silver! This stud seems to have some. http://www.brownbreadstud.com/page5.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I had often considered this, a lot have the "overlay" to their coats that suggest something else going on, but I have never seen anything as obvious as these. Maybe the fact that the most obvious ones have been gelded is a pointer?
Also, of course, there are a lot of Greys that will be masking.
This means that the Fell and Dales also have the possibility of Silver......wonder where it came form?
If course it could be Mushroom.......

There is a lot of silver from Rhum island. I have a book all about the history of highland and isle ponies from Scotland. Lots of imported horses like Clydesdale, Arab, and French horses, I think. I'll get more info when I go home.

You get it in Icelandics though, it could be as old as the Vikings in Highlands, maybe a thousand years or more.
