Grey Andy Colt

A purebred andalusian colt at our ranch. Both parents are grey. Not sure of their base color. They came grey and haven't been tested. About a month ago. Note the spot on his shoulder. Sorry the sun makes it hard to see. It was a very apparent spot. [img]http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn81/bestfriendrob_4/Equine%20Color/…] And just some of his greying from then. [img]http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn81/bestfriendrob_4/Equine%20Color/…] We'd been working on leading. Silly boy got his halter over his ear. But here is one for now. [img]http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn81/bestfriendrob_4/Horses/Teake/DS…] Just thought his little spot was neat. :)

Very. Another somatic IMO (I would have say "bloody shoulder" except that clearly it's graying too). They sure seem to be becoming more common.

Are his pasterns shed out yet? That's an odd color there.

^ Yea, I enjoyed watching his spot grey with him. ;) lol

And I haven't been back to dad's since I took those but I believe they are still that color. I can check tomorrow or Saturday when I go over. And take more photos.

Agreed, except for the shape. The lines of this spot are cleaner, more like what we've seen with the somatics than with the generally jagged blood marks.

There is no roan in Andys is there?

That "champagne"s eyes look too dark to me. Makes more sense that he'd be a homozygous pearl on black (that's about what they look like).

TheSwingHorse Fri, 09/18/2009 - 15:11

^ Yea, I was a bit skeptical but I don't know pearl or champagne very well.

and can i also see a dorsal stripe on him too ? + dun ??

accphotography Fri, 09/18/2009 - 16:46

Oh wow! Yes it's very defined too. Could be. Champagne and dun together tend to create a funky color so that's possible. But I still think HZ pearl and maybe dun.

from distance pictures like that, my gold champagnes eyes always looked dark...I had to get closeups of his eyes several times for people who were skeptical...so there is that chance...but could go either way....handsome animal though
