Ermines and Distals

On the Ermines and distals, when you see those is it only in Tobiano or can a horse without the Tobiano gene have those?

I posted pics a while back of an appendix QH with a boatload of them on his legs...and spots in his white face marking...I'll try to find them again for you if you'd like.

Lace has spots in all of her white (head to toe) and she's tobi negative. It's a sign of a white suppression gene IMO.

But is it seen alot more in some white patterns than others or not? After I learned about them on here I was thinking that I had seen them alot more in minimal tobianos than anything else.

Interesting, thank you, so maybe it's more on tobianos not on more tobianos...lol. So is it just a theory that they are linked to a white suppression gene so far, have they identified the gene that is suppressing the white?

As far as I know of it's not even in research (though after this APHA article comes out someone might choose to look into it) but it's a theory with a lot of empirical evidence.
