Cropout QH filly

This is the sire of my 2010 QH filly. He is a high % foundation-bred AQHA/ABRA/FQHA stallion. Three socks, a funky blaze, and a partial blue eye. [img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v133/GAPaintluvr/RascalStandLeftSide4…] [img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v133/GAPaintluvr/RascalFace4-4-10.jpg…] This is Mamie's dam, shown here as a 2yo to show markings. She was born black, and has two small socks and a jagged blaze. [img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v133/GAPaintluvr/BleuFace12-19-02.jpg…] This is the 2006 full sister. [img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v133/GAPaintluvr/UnoPerfectProfile4-2…] [img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v133/GAPaintluvr/BugsyWarmUpTrot3-27-…] And these are the most recent photos of Mamie. AQHA did pitch a minor hissy fit, but she is fully registered, albeit with the "undesirable characteristics" clause stamped on her papers. [img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v133/GAPaintluvr/MamiePrettyFaceLeftS…] [img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v133/GAPaintluvr/MamiePrettyTrotStrid…] [img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v133/GAPaintluvr/MamieLeftSideWalk5-3…] So....family history laid out in photos--what patterns am I dealing with? I will profess to being partially "pattern stupid". :rofl

Splash, splash, splash. The sire's blue eye and the dam's even socks and funky face white both indicate splash on their own. The filly doesn't surprise me all that much. She's gorrrrgeous!!

Why would AQHA even say a word about it (except for the undesirable clause)???

I called before I sent in the paperwork and explained what I had. They required full DNA (understandable), and clear photos of the belly spots, leg markings, and face white, over and above the normally-required left, right, front, back, and three-quarter view photos. Her papers have those extra photos on the front with the "this horse shows markings uncharacteristic of the breed, yadda yadda" drivel underneath. I had to laugh...Mamie is fairly high % foundation bred, but she doesn't fit their ideal of a QH. Meh.

And thank you! I think she's gorgeous, too. Just wish she'd stay clean........

One of the "ideals" of the quarterhorse was an unbroken colour...filly's got broken colour, so ergo "not ideal".

Splash! :D but a bit raggedy so probably sabino too. Nice visible tail tip, that will look pretty when it's long. wonder if there is any kind of anti-greying dance you can do :rofl
Lol dont worry about the silly AQHA, you know what she is and that's enough. ;) If she's ever bred she can be bred to a paint and make APHA babies :-D If you haven't had a bald face before just watch the pink rimmed eye during the summer, she may need a fly mask to keep the sun off.

Is the sire Weiscamp breeding? He's very pretty.

yay! it's you! You'll love this place.

I still can't get over how much of Bleu I see in Bugsy when I see grown up pics of her.

Has the sire been tested for frame? Not that he looks it, but --- If only my frame mare was a little younger.....At 24 I'd not do it to her, but dang.

I know! I love the tail tip...but it'll be bright orange like the rest of her before too long. We live in the land of Georgia Red Clay, and she LOVES to roll.

Yes, I've had bald faces before, and I'm already keeping a watch on her eye and nose. She'll likely have to live in a fly mask...hope she's easy on them!

Thank you. He's Hancock way far back, but otherwise unknown (to me at least!). His sire's line was mostly reining, but Rascal is unshown. Here is his pedigree: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/si+rail…]

He has not been color tested at all. I doubt I could convince his owners to do it. He's not standing to the public, and isn't breeding much right now. He's just a pasture puff, but mostly a pet.

shaydedbleu Tue, 06/01/2010 - 14:17

As I said, he's not being bred. My mare and an Arab mare were the only two mares bred last year, and the Arab mare has been his pasture mate for 10 years. He had no foals last year, and none are being bred for the next couple of years. Hard to have lethal babies when babies aren't being produced. O:-)

Besides, he's not my horse.

What a life that guy has! :D

So. Are you going to show the filly? You have to tell me when so I can come see....

You are more than welcome to come visit her! My short-term plan is to show her in weanling halter on the Saddle Club circuit and possibly Pinto. My long-term plan is to send her to the H/J trainer that has her sister and let them start her over fences and show her for a couple of years. Then she'll be a pleasure horse. Her mom was shown in everything over the years, and did well in whatever I put her in. I'm hoping Mamie will be the same.
