Colour experts.....what colour will the foal be???

Colour experts.....the dam is chestnut wih a skewbald dam and a bay sire. The sire is Buckskin with a skewbald sire and a palamino mother. What on earth could the foal colour be???

If by skewbald, you mean bay pinto then:

Dam is chestnut from a bayXbay cross so ee with a higher probability of having at least one agouti. ee ??

Sire is buckskin from bayXpalomino so Ee A? CcrC.

Possible foal colors from ee ?? CC X Ee A? CcrC:

Chestnut (25%)
Palomino (25%)
Black (<12.5%)
Smokey Black (<12.5%)
Bay (>12.5%)
Buckskin (>12.5%)

Because both parents are likely to have at least one dominant agouti allele, the bay/buckskin possibility is probably higher than the black/smokey black.

Crossed my eyes for a moment there- it's a long, long time since I have heard skewbald used to describe anything except chestnut and white (even though, technically, it is correct, I suppose)
This is why I do actually prefer to sue "pinto" as you then describe the horse.
Bay Pinto, Red Pinto etc.

:-? I was confused for a minute because I forgot which was which (skewbald or piedbald)...lol. It is kinda like describing a red splash, sabino and frame as a sorrel overo...(NOT a good idea around here... :rofl )

I just wanted to add that because of the pinto in the pedigree there is still a small (probably very small) chance that the foal could express more white than either of the parents.
