On the Branik

I personally feel that Branik should be banned if she shows up here because this is an extension of the old EC and she was banned there, right? Same thing for South Dakota Cowgirl.

As far as Shawin goes, was the trouble she caused related to the EC forum or was it in real life? I know there are people I've had to lawyer up to deal with and I sure wouldn't want them to show up here and play in my sandbox but I don't think we can use our admin/mod privileges to avenge our personal issues. If the trouble she caused was related to the forum though then yes, if she does show up I think we can at least have a discussion about how to proceed. I take it you probably don't want her to have access to what you have written in the general section?

The problem with banning them automatically is that if they are smart they won't register under the same name meaning we probably won't know who they are until ugly rears its head. I have no problem with banning them if they have the nerve to register under the same name.

Since I'm not working or going to school atm I've been trying to get up at 4:30 and fix hubby breakfast and a lunch to take with him. I usually go to bed around 9pm and can always take a nap during the day if I need one. I've actually been feeling really good the past week or so. I'm 14 weeks so it figures.

Branik is rude from the start, has a sense of entitlement, and loves playing the victim so I bet if she comes here she will register as Branik. It seems to be part of her internet game.

SDCowgirl would likely pick a new user name.

Branik's had at least 4 aliases just to me knowledge. She claims she doesn't care what people think... obviously she must or she wouldn't change her name. In most cases it's been to get around a ban.

It was real life, defamation, trying to ruin our business. But it was on a public forum, if that counts. And yes, she's one of the reasons why I wanted the general section to be private, so she'd have to be a member to have access. And I'd be able to remove any photos that specifically ID any of our horses.

Basically what happened was someone trespassed on our farm, took a couple of photos, and then altered them to make the horses look like they were starving. NZ uses a 5 point scale--1 being emaciated, 5 being obese. The officials who investigated the bogus claim against us scored all of our horses, bar one that we had taken in that had a wire injury, at 3+. The wire injured horse (complete with bloody bandage) was scored at 2+. She and several others then started passing them around via the internet, etc., including to the guy who owns Wap Spotted. We were told that there were specific requests for "rehoming" the mares pregnant with Wap Spotted, so yeah, it was definitely an attack to ruin us and to obtain by fraud some new blood.

On the colour front, she's attacked me by saying I'm making up what our old stallion's ApHC papers say, and that she knows more about a horse my husband worked with for over 12 years than we do... :roll: Quite basically, if she were to rejoin, she'd not be here to learn, but to try and cause trouble...maybe not right here, especially if she clicks to me being a mod, but definitely in other areas where she knows I can't type (a section of another forum on which she is the mod, and she has it unaccessible to non-members.

Which time? I know she wasn't banned after the argument with me. We just kinda agreed to disagree. She may have been banned (even temporarily) before and I wouldn't know it.

while she might have had a trashy mouth and a short fuse, she had alot of intelligence in reguards to dog and horse color, with the "bad word" filter even if she shows up , it should be safe ...heck there are enough moderators here to monitor if a situation gets outta hand.

Her horse knowledge was on about the same level as the majority of people here. Her dog knowledge was impressive though, despite her sources.

I didn't know anyone was ever banned from the old forum, or how someone would know unless Sarah told them? Was it on the membership lists?

Branik was a member for years, and I don't recall he/she posting much,or I wasn't reading the threads they were posting on, because I don't remember any problems besides that last awful blow up. Like Heather said, she must have left of her own accord, as there was certainly no moderation at that point.

If the South Dakota cowgirl poster is the one I'm thinking of, she didn't actually do anything wrong. She was a young girl who lived on a ranch, and she caused a lot of controversy because of how her family seemed to handle horses. Her first postings were to ask about what we thought of crossing a TB mare on the ranch stallion, and the general response was that the mare needed more condition and neither horse was a great specimen. After that, there were various postings - about feeding horses in with cows, for instance - and then a foal was born (Popcorn) and it died. She posted about it, and Steffie Gilbert actually called the humane society out to her place. She quessed, correctly, it was someone on the forum who had done that, and Steffie admitted it, and the girl was obviously upset, but I don't think there was a single cuss word in any post. She left after that, and I bet it taught her a lesson about putting your real life details on the web. But she probably handled it better than most of the adults would have. I don't remember any specific fallout from that, but if Sarah banned her, I'm not sure why other than because other posters were upset. But I cannot imagine she would have stuck around anyway, so there would be no point. Plus, in all fairness, she was a kid and it wasn't really her fault.

The other problems I remember were with the poster named Ruffian (some kind of number after that, 42 or 21 or somesuch) who was actually quite smart and well worded, but didn't get along with Rabbitsfizz and eventually left because they were always getting into arguments. But again, she didn't actually do anything wrong.

Then there was one thread between a brand new poster who raised dogs and had wolf hybrids, Slaneyrose and Rabbitfizz, which somehow went from whatever we were discussing, to arguing about whether castrating dogs was a smart move when they had fear/aggression problems. Rabbit got out of that early, leaving Slaneyrose and the other member to hash it out for a while, and finally it died. Slaneyrose didn't come back for a long time after that, and the other poster never did, but again - nothing really offensive besides heated disagreement.

Lewella herself could be quite sharp with people, and I distinctly remember she ran off Nickelbackdun way back in the early days.

I can think of other fights, but I honestly don't remember Sarah ever coming on board and specifically telling us she had banned someone.

I know there were at least two blow-ups with Branik because there was one with me and apparently a later one with Heidi that I missed. I've been reading a little bit about her and that seems to be her standard online method... she provokes people into arguments and then claims that you are picking on her for having Asperger's (which at least I did not even know she had) and much swearing ensues. I missed the last blow-up so I don't know the details of her leaving.

SDCowgirl actually was banned and I know this because Sarah was in contact with a few of us about it. I don't honestly remember the details any more (Steffie probably does) but that did get ugly at the end. It would have all been in my PMs if I still had those from the old forum because Steffie and I talked about it quite a bit and I had PMs from Sarah as well. Perhaps the worst posts were deleted before some people saw them, or maybe the truly nasty stuff all happened in PM. I'm all hazy on this now.

Oh, one other person was banned... a student of allthatsass. I think her name was Dianna. She was just a kid looking to rile people up on the "totally not real at all" internet. She was actually the source of one of my mare's show names. :) (She came up with Ciao Bella for Isabelle.)

I am so clueless I probably should not be a moderator! I don't recall Branik ever being bad....I remember Steffie reporting SDG's horses, but that's her perogative.....I may have done the same if they were in my area, I honestly do not remember exactly what it was, but I remember agreeing with Stef that they were not in the best shape..... I've never even considered banning anyone...I tend to take those who annoy me as a challenge. My job is to make people better in real life and on the job what ever it takes.

I remember both Branik and SDCowgirl and that both ended up in a nasty blowup. SDCowgirl happened right when I joined the forum.

Blowups should not be a reason to ban someone....I've not agreed with many a person and acted a fool in the past. What is -or are- the rules one must break to be banned specifically? Having a disagreement with a moderator or in front of one is not enough IMO.

Having a disagreement with someone (even a moderator) is not a grounds for banning. Cussing someone out or calling them names would be.

I agree that blowups are not a reason to be banned but there was swearing and name-calling with both Branik and SDCowgirl so it was definitely more than the average disagreement.

Well I think respect comes in as well. People can disagree, they can argue, and they can do it while still being respectful of the other person. Once the respect is lost (or it becomes public information that it was lost, as it can be hidden well) it goes downhill from there. That's usually when things take a nasty turn.

Branik's post in that last blow-up was probably the most offensive and foul-mouthed post I have ever read on any forum. It was downright disgusting to read to the point that I didn't even finish reading it (and I am very difficult to offend).
