Another interesting one

Love finding ones like this one - http://www.horsetopia.com/for-sale/classifieds/ad482528" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Heavy sooty or Chimera?

Yeah I was going to say isn't one of those calico ones? He's cool, I bet you'd take that one Lipi. :ymsmug:

Did anyone else notice that his off side is a deeper pali color than the onside? There it seems like the "dept of color" has been drained from the creamy pali portions and redistributed into the chestnut patches. :-O It maybe just the way the pixs look, but if I noticed it (between wrapping doz. of Christmas gifts - and going blind in the process), there could be something there. :ymsmug:

Edited for grammer/spelling...oops

He is a calico tobiano. And very cute ^_^

Ones like this really make me beleive that dilutions affect the coat later in development than base color. The rings of white surrounding the chestnut patches look like they blocked the cream in some way.

Well, again we have the problem of what we call a horse that is more that one pattern. He obviously does have Tobiano, but he just as obviously has Splash so why call him a Tobiano? Anyhoo, he is a pinto, and yes, I would say he is a Calico. He is far too short in the back for me, I do not think that would be all that comfortable to ride?

Danni Mon, 12/06/2010 - 17:16

I think I usually call any horse with tobiano, a tobaino. I mean that's what it is, and usually all you can test for. The rest of the (non frame) white is kind of, best guess?

Jenks Mon, 12/06/2010 - 17:48
It's a calico!!!!!

Well I've got no idea really, but now I have this new term I'm going to use it :D
:rofl

Boy Lipi, you are so hooked eh? I do like him though! Are you shopping in the US intensely?

Did you see this site Amanda? I posted it for you on another thread but dont know you had seen it. These people have nice TWH's all different colors. Their prices are not to bad and every once in a while they have a super sweet deal. There is a beautiful golden palomino mare at towards the bottom of the page. "Rideners Gold Ebony" I also like "Black hills shadow dancer" in foal for $1800.

Thanks Rodeo...there are a couple of nice cremello mares in there and a nice Pally too but a little out of my budget or too old or small - plus too far away from Texas so would cost a lot to transport from there - love the Tobi cremello mare that is related to her other stallions.

rodeoratdogs Tue, 12/07/2010 - 13:05

Yeah I was wondering if you would like that one, the tobi/cremello, oh well, it's fun to look anyway. They sure seem to have a plithora of colors.
