Andalusian mare of ours..

I picked up our mare Silueta from the other ranch yesterday as she is due to foal on April 11th but always seems to go early... I haven't been around her much since joining here but I've been meaning to show you her. I never saw her as a youngster, only when she had already been gray... [IMG]http://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x322/parizo_equine/PART_13010674670…] Here is her eye.. [IMG]http://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x322/parizo_equine/PART_13010675213…] Her left eye is normal brown. You can also see as much face white as you can from this picture: [IMG]http://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x322/parizo_equine/PART_13010676017…] From what we can see, she only has one leg with possible leg white: [IMG]http://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x322/parizo_equine/PART_13010676860…] If it warms up in the next few days, I may rinse her off and see what I can notice then. Its just been raining lately in this magical land of Southern California. ;) lol Here is her sire: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/molinete+iv I don't have her full pedigree on hand and I can not remember how to spell her dam's name for the LIFE of me.. lol She is by the same stallion as our boy Sandokan and he has a lot of "white". From when he was younger so you can see his markings better: [img]http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn81/bestfriendrob_4/Sandokan-Jrwin…] A lot of his foals have high whites and broad face white so I'm guessing splash? Just thought you guys may be interested in seeing her. :)

Wow, he is insane! Of course I will post pics! In the Foal Brag section I have an ongoing thread with our tons of mares. lol

I've been following that thread like a hawk. :) How much do you normally sell foals for anyway?

TheSwingHorse Sun, 03/27/2011 - 13:58

Typically $10-12,000. Interested? I'm sure we can find you something at a decent price!

I am interested, but I'm not quite ready to take the plunge yet. I will definitely keep you in mind when I go horsie shopping, though! I've always wanted an Andalusian and I think yours are particularly pretty. :) Also, you're the friendliest Andalusian person I've run across. Most won't even give me the time of day.

Really?? Thats a shame... there are some snooty people but the majority of us are pretty chill. Especially the hispanic breeders in the area. When you buy, are you looking for a foal or something older?

Third Peppermint Mon, 03/28/2011 - 14:48

I haven't decided which yet, but that'll depend on where we buy out house (influences which stables/trainers are convenient) and whether or not I pop out a baby. And how good I end up being at breaking horses since I've only had real experience working with foals on the ground.

So yeah, could be either! I do like the idea of getting a foal and training/having it trainer just how I want, but I also like the idea of getting a horse with an established personality. Eh, maybe something in between?

Do you guys ever do AI with shipped semen for outside people (with a significant security deposit, of course)?
