2nd career ideas

So a lot of things are changing in my life with the move and I'm thinking of startting somehting I've wanted for a while: a 2nd career. I have the hoof trimming stuff all sorted away now, fully certified, pretty much know what I'm doing and all but I've never wanted to do it full time (ouch). Ideally I'd have a "normal" job and just trim a few evenings and Saturdays. Oahu's a small island too without a lot of horses that could go barefoot sucessfully (have to count out all the stalled horses). I want something non horsey to balance it out and keep me from getting bored with either. The problem is I can't figure out what I want to do. :? I fell into the trimming (it was never something I thought of when I was a kid I just said "eww" to working with hooves LOL) and I never really had anything else concrete. Whatever it is I'd have to go to school or start real low since all I've trained for is horse work. I've never had a job that wasn't horse work. Thinking maybe graphic design since I've always played around with computer graphics. Or possibly jump into some crew type job in filmmaking, that doesn't seem stable though. My other hobby is baking but I have no comercial type kitchen skills and I'm not sure I'd want to do it as a job. I had the strange urge today to look into the police department. So pretty much what sort of things do you guys do or would you have wanted to do so I can get some more ideas?

I'm a Realtor. It works well with other jobs!! I don't do a ton of selling because I am also a Mom and Photographer but to supplement my income I am a Realtor. I've sold enough houses this year to completely pay for my horse habit and some. . .

THere are assessments out there you can take that look at your skills, your likes, etc and provide what you would be good at....maybe you should try one? Or you could just become a sungoddess - oh - or maybe a surfer! LOL

Well, you could always become an equine appraiser . On the baking thing, you could always look for work in the bakery department of a grocery store or perhaps at a bakery to learn more commercial skills, if you think you'd like that. They tend to have early hours, from what I've seen, but then that would give you daylight time free.

I mainly do home health care for MR/DD (mentally retarded/developmentally disabled)...I will say it is not a job everyone can do (our turnover rate is very high...most people quit within 6 months). I've been with the company I work at for just now 5 years.
On the side? I am an equine massage therapist and do equine acupressure. I'm also learning Manual Medicine Therapy for horses from my friend and business partner Erin (she went to school for doing that on people). I don't live in an area that really supports a lot of that due to we are one of the poorest counties in the state of Ohio.
I also sometimes pet sit for people.

There are a lot of retail, hotel jobs out there to be had if you wanted something part-time. Some of the shops in Waikiki were out of this world - I mean they had every designer I had ever heard of on one street - I was in heaven except that there wasn't a horse shop too and i didn't have much money to spend !!! LOL !!! There are also SO many Japanese people shopping there - how is your Japanese ?
how is your Japanese ?
err I can pretty much say hello, I'm fine and I'm sorry, oh and "left" "right" "train" and "horse" :rofl I'll be living in Kaimuki though so it shouldnt be too hard to pick up more and learn. A lot fo the Waikiki jobs were asking for bilingual.
