She'll NEVER get that horse through customs!!!
Oh, I wouldn't bet on that :angel - when it comes sneaking in horses, we can all be quite resourceful...(remember I had a few here for over a month before hubby noticed them and by then it was TOO late :rofl ).

As to MP's arrival, just remember NZ to SEND her BACK ... unless she gets snaped up by one of those handsome Kiwi men... :love

How exciting! I'm jealous! I want to go see new zealand so bad! One of these days....when I'm rich and famous...

NZ Appaloosas Tue, 10/20/2009 - 13:43

Krickette, don't need rich or famous, just need to save pennies Actually, you may be the right age to qualify for a working holiday visa...

Well, as I sit here, it's now one hour to landing, her flight seems to be on time. Now to go get dresses since I just drank my "breakfast" (a cuppa tea).

Later, gators!

It only took nearly an hour to get through customs...apparently people don't usually check every single box on the "biosecurity risks" card. But it helped that I could list everything "biohazard" I had and could name exact dates of the last times I had gone anywhere near different animals. The funny thing was that they had a fit over the red beans n rice Zataran's mix....major security risk, you know :D.

I got to go out and see Diane's gorgeous ponies yesterday!

Tianateke Mon, 11/02/2009 - 16:22

LOL @ Zatarans! I tried to get my folks to take some when they went down to see my sister graduate, but they made several stops on the way (hawaii, fiji (uncle Ed, moms bro lives there) and ATE IT!

My sis does have some friends going down to the south island on a cycling vacation, hmmm, I wonder if I could convince them to bootleg some in?

NZ Appaloosas Mon, 11/02/2009 - 17:03

Not bootleggin' if the items are declared! :rofl Is your sister still here at school?

Diane

critterkeeper Tue, 11/03/2009 - 13:49

Hey, maybe some of your "Yank" friends could ship a case of Zatarans to you :bounce ...just a thought.

NZ Appaloosas Wed, 11/04/2009 - 02:36

Back about 6/7 years ago, a friend of mine mailed me a "care package"--4 boxes of Zatarains and a big box of Minute Rice...postage? US$35!!! And that was with no customs/tariff costs (sent as a gift, so exempt from that). So mailing is really not an option...'Sides, how else am I gonna meet y'all, if you don't come out to deliver care packages??? :rofl

Sis has her masters now, and her student visa would have gapped before she could get a work visa rolling, so she is here in alaska teaching and tutoring. But seriously, her friends will bring you Zatarans, esp if you let them have a plug around on a "teaching" level mount. (Do you have any of those? Or are they all as P&V as the B?)

NZ Appaloosas Tue, 11/10/2009 - 21:40

We have a couple that aren't like the Beamer B*tch. :rofl Dodger, our gelding, is an old hand at being yanked out of the paddock and doing the arena thing...he's the one we rely on when friends of ours have Asian homestay students...apparently it's quite the thing to brag about "back home", that they went out to a real farm and rode live horses, especially for the Japanese girls. So if he can handle high heels and giggling bouncing things, I'm sure he could handle your friends (of course, saying that will now jinx it and he'd put on the most impressive bucking bronc display! :rofl )

JA! K' I'll work on letting the sis know that one of the two allowable bags should be filled with dirty rice! 8-) You'll be so set up you'll :ymsick: at sound of a box being opened!

NZ Appaloosas Tue, 11/10/2009 - 22:04

RED BEANS -n- rice, not dirty rice :HB :HB :toast And once we're set for our own little piggies, I'm gonna figure out how to make kielbasa, and then I can start requesting jambalaya! :bounce :bounce :rofl :rofl

Dilutes Mon, 11/16/2009 - 20:08

Now I'm curious about red beans and rice. So do you open the box and have to cook it or just reheat it?

NZ Appaloosas Mon, 11/16/2009 - 20:11

yep, tell them to send a text ID'ing them as your screen name's sister's friend, since I tend to store internet friends in the data banks by their screen names. LOL Don't want to confuse them with any clients, and start asking them what they told the police... :rofl
