some new Cory pics

One advantage to being on foal watch is that the camera is always down in the barn. I snapped these of Cory today. Check it out! I'm sharing photos before he totally sheds out! Cory is pondering the mares in the next paddock: [img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v338/jmpnghorse/Cory/corystand050109…] Cory WANTS the mares in the next paddock: [img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v338/jmpnghorse/Cory/coryrear050109.j…] (you can see that Phoebe does not share his interest) This one is blurry but I'm including it because it shows how he plays with Peanut: [img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v338/jmpnghorse/Cory/corypeanut050109…] And, a couple shots I took as he trotted by: [img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v338/jmpnghorse/Cory/corytrot050109.j…] [img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v338/jmpnghorse/Cory/coryface050109.j…] * disclaimer * I know his head is considered plain for a Welsh pony so if you don't like it, you won't hurt my feelings. I loooove it though because he looks like a scaled down warmblood to me. :)

He's very nice! Love the shots. :D
Now if only MY mares did not share the interest, they would not be doing the booty call up against the fences to temp Cisco! And to think, the horses are kept in dry lots the majority of the year, so you would think they would be too busy grazing in the grass field that borders Cisco's dry paddock. Nope, of course not, they've got to rub their big butts all over my fencing! Never thought I would have to invest in hot tape..

Oh, they wanted him last week ;) They're just not in heat any more so I was able to put them back in that paddock. Otherwise I don't trust the fence to keep them apart. I don't think he could breed them without help but I worry about him getting kicked if they get in together.

The funny thing is that it's only his forelock that's so long and thick. His mane and tail are just normal, or even a little on the thin side for a pony, I think. It's a good thing his mane isn't like his forelock or it would take forever to pull.

Here's Cory's dam. He takes after her more than his sire.

This is a full sibling to Cory. It's crazy how much they look alike.

He's much better than his sibling, that's for sure....is he backed?? I can't remember??
I don't mind his head, just say it is "old fashioned" people are always impressed by that.
I knew someone who bred the plainest (they were ugly!!) seal point Siamese....she said they were "old fashioned " Siamese, heavy set and yes, ugly!!
People lined up for them, they are now a separate breed within the breed, called "Traditional" Seal Points, and I have to admit, not so ugly anymore!!
So there is something to be said for the name, it insinuates that you are going for the strong, animated and hardy "original" cob type , not the airy fairy dish headed and often overly hot, "fashionable" type (which you know I love but would not often put a child on!!)
I love his length of stride, too, he is going to cross well with Warmbloods, and if you do decide to geld him sometime he still has the brain and the will to make a decent kids pony.
That really is what Pony Breeding should be about, not just looks.

Yes, he has been backed. He's easy and learns quickly.

I think the photo of his sibling is at a hard angle to judge. Plus, Cory got the benefit of growing up with testosterone so he bulked out in all the pretty places. I'm so glad he's finally grown into this! I used to wonder what was wrong with his neck!

I love his head too. Noble looking.

Rabbits- I still think Trad Siamese are ugly!
