Hey Judith (vneerland)...you get any storms today???

vneerland Tue, 05/26/2009 - 22:09

:o  let me guess. Around 1 PM? :?
I was at work at the time and the weather radio went off. Harrison and Marion cnty under a severe Tstorm warning. Then they named the list of towns which included East Mountain and White Oak. I am totally sure that those two are in Upshur cnty, so I know they didn't pinpoint it very closely.
I found no damage when I came home. Just evidence of heavy flooding. Again.
Looks like you sure got a very hefty helping of that storm though! With your fence like this, can you still keep your girls on your property?

Yep! Thats about when it happened.
I was outside running them fresh water & putting my trial of "fly predators" out. Next thing I know its pouring down.
I never even heard it fall. :o
Yeah I can keep them as they're in the dry "muddy" lot.

And then this evening it was bright & sunny!! The rain didn't last long at all & didn't seem like much wind, but guess the tree would argue differently!! lol

I heard about the FL weather Jodi. Not pretty!
And I am sure that if you could sell the mosquito's you must be breeding, you'd be making some nice extra spending $$$ :o I have oodels of birds trying to help me out with the control, but even they cannot keep up.
I am currently running a buy 1, get 10 free deal.
I have cats that would gladly help your bird population!  Ugh mosqitos!!!!! I did go round yesterday dumping out flower pots etc....
The 10 for 1 deal is on the skeeters Jodi, not on the birds.
And come to think of it? Buy 1 get 10 free goes for the cats too! I don't want cats, but a mom and her babies showed up last year. Fast forward: two neutered boys left from that bunch, and a mom and 4 kittens lived next door at the empty house. They all figured it was empty and started to visit for food. Not only did they practically move in by now  they also multiplied and currently I have 4 cute kittens playing on my porch with another batch at the empty house next door, fearing that they too will sooner or later figure out where the all you can eat buffet is. Once the visitors get tamer, I will have to catch and fix them. I desparately want to get rid of all but my own and at the same time, I fear that if I truck them to the shelter, they will be pink juiced.

Cats/kittens anyone? :sad

Mine were all from a mom that "showed" up too!!!!! she appeared and then had babies LOL! I kept them had them spayed and nutered. Im sure my (not at the time) un-nutered white male was the daddy and brought her home, after a night of passion!!!!!!!!!   because 2 of the litter were white with a blue eye like papa and one was siamese.

She was preggers when she showed up because she had kittens in about 3 weeks.

Okay, NO on the buy 1 get 10 free (I'm having that battle myself)... this weather is crazy this year...more rain than we have every gotten in April/May (record levels) and we now have flooding everywhere and sink holes forming.

I would also like to add a warning...My uncle who breeds Paints and Arabs down in Sarasota, Fla., lost 2 young foals so far this year to EEE (they are taking precautions for the rest of his herd). Even though the mares were vaccinated, the foals were too young and the mosquitoes are killer this year.

Little Goldie is currently sporting enough repellent to sink a battle ship, I have doughnuts in all the water troughs and emptied everything I can empty...and the minute she is old enough to be vaccinated, she is getting her shots.
