Re: Pony critique - my stallion
Oh yes, I've seen him before. My stallion has an unknown background. I bought him from a girl who told me her boyfriend bought this colt at a sale barn and he was told both his parents were registered miniature horses but this one was too tall to register. He was listed as a buckskin but I could see he wasn't and bought him and registered him with the International Champagne Horse Registry. I have used him on several types of mares and all of the foals were little replica's of the mare but have his fantastic temperament and intelligence and more than half have his champagne color and appaloosa genes. I would LOVE to know his pedigree but I've never been able to track down the sale barn he was sold at to see if they had record of the seller. He was foaled in 2003 so I doubt I ever will now but he is making his own mark and owners and breeders know of him from all over the US
I hope to promote his half Arabian pony filly to a level that will bring even more attention to him. We already breed outside mares to him and I haven't done it yet but may check into training him to collect.
Re: Pony critique - my stallion
He's really nice! Nicely balanced. I would LOVE to see the mare you crossed him to....one thing is for sure-it should be short backed if the arabian is typically arabian short-backed! Nicely sloped shoulder, his backend is not square, but dang. Really nice hind end and nice topline!
Re: Pony critique - my stallion
Here is the mare I bred him to. He's 10.2 hands and she (HF Macarena, SE AK Arabian) is a little over 14.1 hands. With her is their Sable Champagne filly, registered as Layla Sparkles, with the HAHR. Next, I'm registering her with the International Champagne Horse Registry and the Arabian Pony Registry, plus the American Sport Pony Registry and the inspection is the end of August about an hour from here.
It's not the best picture to critique Macarena but I'll try to get a better photo later.
Re: Pony critique - my stallion
Aw thanks, this filly is the the product of about 3 years+ of planning.
Here is another foal by my stallion, this one is a MFT cross, a gaited appy pony colt. His reg name is Classic Star Dust. Dusty should mature 13 to 14 hands. He's just a few days old in this pic
Re: Pony critique - my stallion
I like him... ALOT. Even disregarding his color. The only things I might change:
1) A bit of a lighter neck, though that could be solely because he is a stallion.
2) A flatter croup.
3) A longer hip.
I can't really tell about his hind leg conformation in this photo so I won't say.
I love his shoulder, back, barrel and head. It's one of the best shoulders I've ever seen and I love the neck tie-in and length.
