Black or Silver Black??

Re: Black or Silver Black??
I have seen pics of the stallion on the move and he is well able to cover the ground so I assume thats where she gets it. I also think she gets some of his personality too as he thinks he has a right to every mare in the place and Shimmer thinks she has a right to do whatever she pleases
Although when the vet was out the other day she followed him everywhere and stood beside him while we were talking. He couldnt get over how friendly she is.
So do you think that the colt has Sabino too?? Or will he need to be a bit older

Re: Black or Silver Black??
Ahh i see.
Yeah that's what i was thinking that since it looks silver and and seem to be known to be silver then it can't be a shettie.
I have been following the debate over silver in shetties for a while on and off since there have been a swedish one involved somewhat.
The whole "mushroom" colour that looks a bit like silver but has been proven not to be.
Anyway OT..i was just wondering because of that whole thing.
Beautiful ponies!
I would love to have minis some day, a whole little stable of them :D
Re: Black or Silver Black??
I firmly belive that there is silver in the shetties, it's just that the UK sold most of them to other countries many years ago!! But I bet one turns up in the UK one day. I really do think that the silver in minis and US shetlands comes from UK shetlands originally. Australia has so much silver in the older breeds, our Australian ponies used to have so many silvers. I think it's more likely that the colour came from the UK rather than the Timor ponies.

Definite black silver. Any chance of gray in the sire?
