CM's stallion

ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG !! What to do, I really feel for this kid, she means well and obviously they are short of money, I kind of want to shake her Mum though !!! :BH I have tried to be as gentle as I can, I got in that hopefully they wouldnt breed unneccessary foals if they couldn't afford a vet...it's all so sad. :sad I agree with Heidi that the pastern angle is just not good at all....and those hooves are terribly long...really hope this at least enables them to work with the stallion and so sort the problem out or that it gives them a warning before something else happens. ~x(

I agree the situation lends itself to possible moderation problems in the future. I hope fervently it does not turn into another SDCowgirl situation, but I am sure we will manage it. Until then...,well, that's what we get paid for :whip

I wouldn't worry too much about it, it'll either crash and burn or the membership will learn to work around it. Obviously, I'd prefer the latter, but there's precious little you can do.

I hadn't even read the thread until Lipi pointed it out. It just makes me sick to my stomach. How anyone can let their horse get in a situation like that I just can't understand. I feel awful if Lacy even gets a tiny chip in a hoof or if I think her angle isn't 100% perfect. I just don't understand the thinking that it's ok to just let them be and hope they trim themselves. Not only that, but she said the mares trim themselves. Ummm... we've SEEN the mares and they most certainly do not. They're all bad. At least they're not going hungry, but as a resident of her state I feel sure that's only because of the quality of grass in Kentucky. If they can't afford to have one horse's hooves trimmed, how can they afford to feed, or worm, or anything. Maybe they can, but his hooves would have to be one of my first priorities. It's been a long time since I've seen any that bad, rescues included. If you can't afford to take care of them............

Sorry, just venting. I know there's nothing we can do. *sigh*

Maybe it can be addressed in a way that will inspire CM rather than cause defense.

Who threw that? Seriously. Maybe even she could try some filing herself.

Well we'll see what happens when she comes to meet Lacy. I won't say anything direct about it, but I'm pretty good at leaving hints. Maybe if she's willing to learn she'll ask, or she'll be inspired. I dunno... we can hope.

Hopefully some good will come out of this. I know what you mean ACC though, I was really embarrassed about the vet's comments on Cherish's hooves and they had been trimmed by my farrier 2 weeks before the vet commented it wasn't till the vet explained that they would now need a lamintis trim that I understodd her comments in context, I don't think I could ever post hooves like CM's horses on the web if they were my fault ! ...poor girl.

I don't think CMhorses will ever turn into anything like SDCowgirl. She seems much more open to education and much more mature. Remember how SDCowgirl would post silly surveys like "what is your favorite color?" or "do you ride english or western?" and then get really upset that every member of the forum hadn't voted? CM isn't anything like that.

ACC, I was already thinking that it would be good if she visits you. She can see Lace's feet, how you take care of her, etc and maybe learn from observing and some well placed comments on your part.
