Your thoughts again on Rosie

Yes I know I am MAD but I thought it might be a good idea to put up all the pics I have taken of Rosie Since March 7th up to today May 5th so they are taken over a period of 8 1/2 wks and to put them one after the other so you might notice the progressing in her size. Just curious to hear what you all think keeping in mind that there has been no change in her diet - no access to grass just hay and hard feed twice a day. Rosie March 7th - would be 242 days going on due date of June 3rd. I'm suspect....what does Banner say?
I had Ecco in with the broodmares all winter with hard feeding, grass and hay and she was the size of a HOUSE.
The time I really suspected her was when she sprang NO bag as the grass came in and all the others started to do so.
So what is her bag doing?
DC jumped out of his stable and canoodled with her all nigh in his pyjamas and she went down like a pricked balloon and was in raging season the next day!!
She is now in the round pen as she bordered on laminitis, I do not have anywhere that has no grass but the round pen has no more than enough for her to live on.

Well she ran with Sunny and both boys are out on grass at the moment so nowhere near the mares.

She has NO bag but then she has 4 wks to go and (keeping in mind its 5 yrs since she foaled and my memory may not be 100%) she usually only started to spring in the last month and there is also the chance that this could be a July date as she had a couple of quickies with Sunny on Sept 3rd when she showed an interest and I panicked and put them together for a few hrs before sense prevailed.

She hasnt had access to grass but this week she will be let out for a few hrs now on a daily basis to see how she copes so will be interesting to see if that brings her on or brings on a season.

I dont plan on bringing in the boys for another few wks (they are 3 miles down the road). They are enjoying their freedom on 3 acres and especially now the grass is just starting to come in.

I suppose this is why I am on the fence too as
1. She hasnt foaled since 2005
2. She is now 19
3. She had a bad bout of Lamanitis over the winter
4. No spring yet but then no sign of a season.
5. The vet did an external scan but couldnt find anything but even he wouldnt commit one way or another (scan in feb)

Princess, who I had off the good grass for similar reasons, did not spring a bag....if you bounce on over to LB I said all that over there :booty
Also, Princess only gets "footy" if she is not in foal, when she is, and she has only had one year off in twelve (!) she tends to be OK, then three years ago she came really close to actually getting laminitis, and she was in foal.
It's a hard call, to use bute or not, but I did and the foal was OK.
I think maybe you should have her US'd again.....

She looks prego to me, and some of my mares don't bag up until a week or two before they drop, but you could always try teasing her with a stud.

Well the vet was out today and did Rosies teeth and took some blood so he said that it should take about 3 days for a result so "might" know Friday but should definately have an answer by Monday. Finally I will be put out of my misery :bounce :D

As for Slaney (due tomorrow at 330 days) she has NO progression of her udder at all. She does look to be softening a bit behind but then if taken by surprise will tighten up again. Her poos today are getting a little looser but still nowhere near a cow pat. Usually a day or two before foaling she rolls and then sits like a dog on her ass pushing back and forth - no sign of that yet so its more of the waiting game :BH .

A good friend of mine suddenly realized about three weeks ago that one of her mini mares was pregnant! She had moved them off winter feed and put them out on grass, and one of the mini mares was taking off the winter weight but the other just wasn't. Then the mare turned toward her to walk one day and she just knew. Checked the bag--full. Checked under the tail--yep, all the ligaments were loose. She had run the mares with a mini stallion last year (they are often run together with no results) but never saw any sign of them "doing the deed" so she had no idea when the mare was due. Two weeks later, on Cinco de Mayo, the mare foaled a cute little filly. Surprise! :o
