He made a very unexpected entrance this evening between 5 and 6. I was outside all day between watching Honey Jo and working with the critters and planting in the garden and nothing no indication that she planned on foaling at all anytime soon. She was skipping through the foaling pen eating choice chunks of grass humming to herself. Demanding I brush all the dirt she rolled in so she could go roll in more;-) Just acting like nothing was in the air. I went in about 4:30 and cooked Steve dinner and we ate. He decided to go out and check the pond as we have had TONS of rain and it overflowed the ponds enough that we were saving fish this morning. He was out a few minutes and came in and said. "Hey I have a question" I said "what" and he said "What are you going to name that baby out there". I turned into jello mush and started to both cry and threaten him if there was NOT a baby out there. Lucky for him there was so I grabbed the phone and called Gayle to come see him. He was still wet but was up and walking when we got out to him. HoJo was still down and had not passed the placenta yet but had no problems passing it shortly after Gayle arrived. I went in got the camera and the betadine so we could get pics and dip umbilical. I also grabbed a halter so he could play dress up too. He is super sweet nice and tall and both him and mama are doing great:-) He has a tiny star but I really do not expect too much white with Hojo and Cougie;-) and is a bit darker then I expected ;-) All in All I am THRILLED and she is being an excellent mama;-) so here he is IMA Rebel Cougarand or Rebel for short

She doesn't have cream. She's a gold champagne. Homozygous champagne on chestnut. Here's hoping the baby is homozygous as well! :toast

Congrats!!

We were debating who has to pull his little tail for the test. Sam (our niece) said we should have just yanked it out right after birth so he would think that was just part of being born. She then declined to do it:-) Thanks everyone I am so happy with him and his mama is being such a good mother. She is such a sweet girl and i think he will be as friendly as she is he already loves his human servants ;-)

Wow, I had been wondering if this foal was born yet! Congratulations!! I'm on day 356 here with my mare but I think I'll throttle her if she makes me wait for day 361...

Some how I thought HoJo was the last of the 3:-) After you wait so long all is forgiven when you see that precious face;-) Here is hoping you do NOT have to wait much longer
Congratulations - WOW, :love , congratulations of a beautiful baby. I notice that his shade looks JUST like my pali filly born Tuesday...(if you look past the eye and skin color - :flower ).

Oh she is a doll:-)
No you don't love him - send him to me and I'll take him off your hands! :D
Oh I could not do that as he may grow up to be a dork seeing that both his parents are dorks and I would feel so bad spreading the dorkness;-)

Nice!! Congratulations!

I invited someone here that was interested in seeing Cougar...I wonder if she made it here.

Are you going to post him up on your site?

Hey, my place is full of dorks, so you wouldn't be spreading the dorkiness here - send him on, I can hide him out in the back pasture with no trouble at all. He'd be away from ALL prying eyes (except my ladies of course - :love ) :laugh1 :laugh1 :laugh1
