what colour is he and will he be spotted?

dam is buckskin and sire is pintaloosa. we thought foal was smokey black and when we first saw him he had green eyes, they started changing to a brown colour and now seem to be turning into wall eyes? when we clipped him we found he has the starting of black and white spots coming through on his bum. do you think he is smokey black and will he spot out? also due to the eyes do you think he is carrying frame? is there anything else worth testing for? dam: [IMG]http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y223/beckiebonfield/kinsky%20mini%20ma…] sire: [IMG]http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y223/beckiebonfield/kinsky%20mini%20ma…] the foal: [IMG]http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y223/beckiebonfield/kinsky%20mini%20ma…] [IMG]http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y223/beckiebonfield/kinsky%20mini%20ma…] his spots: [IMG]http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y223/beckiebonfield/kinsky%20mini%20ma…] thanks in advance

I do not see anything in his eyes at all, and the white markings on his backside might not be anything to do with Appy- it is possible, of course, anything is possible, but they could just be Birdcatcher spots, and the black spots, without a white background are, if I remember this right, suppressed Lp?
Anyway, if he is a foal, all bets are off as everything could change, completely, in the Spring.
This is one of my boys,

and, as a foal, he had exactly THREE white spots on his bum, no black spots, Nada, three white spots!

i will try and get some close up pics of his eyes for you.
your horse is beautiful!!! was he born with a white bum or did he turn white over time?

Is there any other appy markers on your horse, i.e. spotting on face or genitals, striped hooves ?

Is the foal in the picture with the buckskin same one you are asking about? If yes, then I think brown-based buckskin appaloosa.

I do not see any cream.... so I do not think he is Brownskin.
My colt (gelding) was born with exactly, (I could count them) THREE white spots on his bum, no white no spots anywhere else, he was bay, a plain bay foal with three white spots - and not very big ones, at that.
He did not change until his yearling year.

yes he is the foal in the picture with the buckskin. i cant see any mottling on his skin as his skin is all black

Now I am still on a learning curve with Appy classification myself, but I am pretty sure that if he is suppressed Lp he will not have mottled skin?

I'm gonna go with black (see other post re: Lp funkifying black ymwhisle ). Lp can be highly suppressed (our Ms Pearl) or just missing "Patn" (my first app, who had black spots on a dark bay body, and I can't remember if she had any other characteristics). The foal is definitely black-based, so there are probably some suppression factors involved, as well as little to no "Patn". Dad's nose is indicative of splash to me.
