What Colour? Foal

I have a mini horse foal that was born on the 02/12/2009 She is by Ashmere Park Free Spirit who is a Buckskin and from Redlan Crystal Rose who is either a Palomino with Smut OR Silver Buckskin (Does have silver through her lines) Also has another gold palomino filly to a chestnut stallion When April was born we thought straight out Palomino with blue eyes and the only markings we could see was a stripe on her face but as she is losing her foal coat she is going wierd colours lol. and appears to have 4 white socks? Let me know what you guys think :) I appreciate any help Sire [img]http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp110/mysticmoondancer04/Mystic%20Va…] Dam [img]http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp110/mysticmoondancer04/Mystic%20Va…] Day she was born [img]http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp110/mysticmoondancer04/Mystic%20Va…] [img]http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp110/mysticmoondancer04/Mystic%20Va…] 1 Month Old [img]http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp110/mysticmoondancer04/Mystic%20Va…] [img]http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp110/mysticmoondancer04/Mystic%20Va…] 2 Months Old - Sorry the pic (Angle) is not the best [img]http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp110/mysticmoondancer04/Mystic%20Va…]

yes he is Banner. I had a look at the website, they have 2 gorgeous Arenosa stallions and a Rowdy son as well - love those !

IMO there are some distinct differences between him and the OP mare. I likely would have called him palomino from the getgo.

rabbitsfizz Sun, 02/07/2010 - 10:05

I think the picture of him in show condition is quite similar to the OP horse.....her body is "cleaner" and paler than his, but otherwise, I think, very similar.
They have not tested for Dun, I am going to ask them if they will!!

I think the Arenosa ponies are to die for, and, I have to say, I have not seen Getitia own an animal I did not admire!
I wish I were still doing lead rein!
Tell you what Amanda, I'll bring the pony in, you supply the rider?

I will be colour testing both the mare and foal as I am interested in what colour they actually are but I am interested in everyone's opinions as well :-)

I am going with either Pally with smut or silver buckskin.
I have not seen the foal recently and the last pic I had of her someone else took as the dam is visiting another stallion atm but the lady said she will try to get some better ones for me.

Also the stallion has had a few other foals born this season, another pally with blue eyes and a bay with blue eyes
I also say palomino for sure ;) WHEN are you testing her? LOL

I'm working on it although we have been going through a faze of not wanting to sit on even a rocking horse so will have to see ! But boy those Arenosa's are awesome !

I will be getting them colour tested when they get home. Crystal and her foal are away visiting a stallion atm and they are about 4-5 hours away lol. I am hoping to have them home by the end of the month. Then I have to send the hair samples to America (I am in Australia!) But I will post the results as soon as I get them done!!

Here are some pics I got sent a couple days ago.
We have discovered that the sire is overo bred so this could have something to do with the blue eyes?
Cant remeber if I or anyone else have mentioned this as I have this posted in a few spots lol.

So possibilities are
Sire is either Buckskin and Overo bred/Silver (but I doubt this one)

Dam is either Pally with smut/Silver Buckskin
Dam also has a dorsal stripe down her back - Cant seem to find any pics but this one that show it and you can only see it near her rump as the angle on the pic isnt that great

The foal looks more silver balck in those new pics and yes I would blame the blue eyes on frame in this case. Great that you are testing them. ;)

This is my Dunalino, no Silver.
Her legs were seasonal, some times of year they would be non existent, sometimes they were obvious. I always put them down to sooty as, even though I bred her, I had NO idea she was Dun until she threw me a Red Dun foal at age nine!!!

mysticvalley Fri, 02/12/2010 - 00:16

Well I was just going through my old emails and I found this. I completly forgot but im going th through another colour in her background lol

"I took a few pics of Crystal this evening. She is totally in paddock condition so is wooly and very light in colour but has a dappled Palomino colour in Summer. She also has very dark points and has dun in her back ground so may be a Palomino dun as well but you would have to colour test her to find out."

So there is Dun in her background as well.
They come home hopefully the end of the month so will send off the tests for colour testing asap
