What color is my 2 year old gelding?

This is King's AllStar Note, aka Dude, my 2 year old gelding. I have him as a Bay Tobiano on his PtHA papers, but his color really confuzzles me. I'll post some pics of him as a new born, a year old, and now as a 2 year old. Sorry if the pics are big, I'm using Photobucket. Newborn, wet and dry [IMG]http://i360.photobucket.com/albums/oo49/SpiffyGrl/Dude/DUde3-212.jpg[/I…] 1 year old [IMG]http://i360.photobucket.com/albums/oo49/SpiffyGrl/Dude/DudeMay271.jpg[/…] and 2 year old [IMG]http://i360.photobucket.com/albums/oo49/SpiffyGrl/Dude/Dude06-14-113.jp…] I have tons more pics if anymore are needed at any age. :)

Yep, you have it right he is a sooty bay tobi with sabino (possibly also splash white)and probable frame. I am sure that from reading on this site you know that tobiano does not have white on the face, that takes a "white pattern"...as to the "frame" I base that on the appearance look of his jagged white streak down his shoulder/foreleg in the pixs.

Thanks guys. I tried to get on here yesterday and it wouldn't load for me. Weird.

Here's a few more pics as a baby and his other markings. The age will vary with pics.

Just for fun newborn pic, it was cold that morning (4 am) so I put my thermal zip up hoodie on him.

Close ups of his shoulder and butt markings.

His cute little 'dot' on his bottom lip.
[IMG]http://i360.photobucket.com/albums/oo49…]

And the most recent of his left side and rear. He has a "!" on his neck which makes the thin white line in his mane. The dot and beginning of the "!" is on his right side and comes over to his left with his mane.

Sorry for the pic overload, but he has some many markings it's hard to get them all in less then 4 pics! lol!

Thanks, that mark is whay his reg. name is Kings AllStar Note. King from sire, note from dam, and AllStar 'cause it looks like a batter swingin' and about to run for first base with the bat about to leave his hand. hehe! I hope the black in his tail grows out a little longer and drapes over the white more. He's just marked so uniquely!

I agree his blaze is kinda lopsided, but the jagged edges to his stockings and his other side markings are more closely associated with sabino than splash (splash has a more even appearance and smooth edges)...

Here is a pix of my splash white sorrel mare, Destiny, when she was a foal...see how even and smooth the edges of all her white is? That is what I'm talking about...

and Destiny with her dam, Akina, who is believed to have been sabino only, nee the jagged and roany edges to her blaze? Her only sock is the same uneven and jagged pattern. We can only assume that Destiny go her splash from her sire but as mom was a rescue that came in foal, we don't know for sure.

I like your gelding, he has some pretty nice bloodlines, I love Bright Bar out of Maddons bright eyes, some other nice horses he go's back to are Leo Tag, and Triples Image . Is there a reason he was just registered pinto instead of paint? If you wan't I can ad his photo to allbreeds, I have a membership.

Yeah I get that, I was just wondering what your opinion on Docs blaze was?

SpiffyGrl Wed, 06/22/2011 - 23:27

It's kind of a long irrataing story, but you asked for it. Lol!
My ex-BIL was in possesion(sp?) of King when I bred Spiffy to him. He told me I would be able to register the foal with APHA, but I couldn't in the end. He didn't trasnfer the stallion to his name (or his girlfriend's name), didn't send in a DNA sample, and since he didn't do the first 2 didn't send in a stud report. Sooooooo, I had to geld poor Dude so I could register him with PtHA. I would have thought about leaving him intact if I would've had my ex-BIL signature on the reg app., but again he is kind of a jerk wad and wouldn't even return my calls 2 mouths after Dude was born. In the end, Due got cut the November of 2009 and I turned in the reg. app. to PtHA. Since I don't have my mare with PtHA (and didn't have the signature of the stallion owner) Dude's paper's say 'Unknown' for both top and bottom sides.
In other words, my ex-BIL owes me for the breeding fee of $200 (where he said I would be able to reg. with APHA, part of the agreement), the vet bill for Dude's gelding, AND the registration fee with PtHA of $100 for an 'unknown' horse.

Here's a scan of his PtHA papers.

If you want to put the left side most recent pic of him on allbreed, you can. I don't have the extra funds to be a member again. :(

Sorry to hear that, I hate it when stuff like that happens. I will put the picture on there for you:)

When I got Annie from my freind that passed away he had lost her paper's so the last thing we did together is go down to a notary so he could sign a lost paper affidavit for me, thank God I did because after he passed away his family contacted me and wanted proof I owned Annie, I had just recieved the paper's back in my name #:-S.

SpiffyGrl Fri, 06/24/2011 - 16:39

Thanks. :)
It's a good thing you and your friend did that. Sometimes family, especially a greiving family, can be a handful to deal with. Sorry for the loss of your friend though. (hugs)

Your Welcome, I put the photo on let me know if that one is ok, if not or you get one you like better it's no problem at all for me to change it, I just renewed my membership for a year.
Annie is truley the best horse I have ever had, and I have had alot. At least the way that I got her was really meaningful even though it was uner sad circumstances, makes her even that much more special to me. :angel .

SpiffyGrl Sun, 06/26/2011 - 15:15

No, that's perfect! Thanks so much. I'm hopeing to get some extra money here soon so I can do a few things.

Annie is a special horse, just like my 3 are to me.
