Vitiligo

I just dug up old pictures of a mare I rode once or twice in France--her name was Olsara, and this is pretty much what I think of when I think of vitiligo: [img]http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd214/benzophenoneslave/Olsara1.jpg[…] [img]http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd214/benzophenoneslave/Olsara2.jpg[…]

Yes! They are both what I'd call vitiligo too. I don't call the speckledy loss of pigment most greys have vitiligo. That's just a general grey loss of pigment, like what grey does everywhere. Vitiligo is separate in my opinion.

Do we have a vitiligo section in the main website? Should we have a vitiligo section? Would be good to do comparison between vitiligo and appy mottling and pumpkin skin, I think.

I think it's a good idea... Perhaps some others too. Like the difference between a cremello, DW, max sabino and LWO. Believe it or not.

After seeing that one grey pony a couple weeks ago (and hundreds of greys without what she had) I would definitely call what the pony had vitiligo even though she is grey. Maybe it didn't come through in photos quite right but it was concentrated around her eyes, just like the bay above.

Well clearly not her socks, her blaze, or her saddle sores. The splotches around her eyes.

^ I think these are great ideas. Comparison galleries would be extremely helpful and insightful. I'm also personally waiting for the Hair Samples gallery to eventually get more filled up with neat pictures. ^_^

These are great ideas. I'm out of town atm but will be back this evening. The smilies and this will be on the top of my hit list.
