"True Blue Roans"

So I have a lady coming out today to see our blue roan stud and is considering two other blue roans in the area. She asked me in an email to tell her why she should choose my boy over the other two when she gets here. Other than conformation and pedigree, the others aren't going to be what she wants color wise (if I'm not mistaken). If I recall, people are agreeing that Dry Docs Blue Cowboy IS blue roan however he's turning grey (am I right?) https://www.facebook.com/pages/Larry-aka-Dry-Docs-Blue-Cowboy/104316562… The other one, to me, isn't a true blue roan but perhaps a brown based roan? Or do you think he is a fading black? http://www.horseclicks.com/horses/7ky19y/ Am I right in my thinking? I don't want to spout off incorrect information and sound silly. :P Thanks guys. haha Also, here is our guy in case you never saw him: https://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/KellysBlueKing

I think your correct on both. I remember the first guy we talked about him before and yes I agree he's graying. The second is brown or bay roan not blue roan.

I agree with Daylene. First is graying and second is a brown roan. I can see a little evidence of the little one graying around the face, but I wouldn't bet any money on it.

Do you have foal photos of the above colt? If he was born chestnut then I think he'll gray. I'm going by how dark his lower legs and mane and tail are. Gray often adds color before it takes it away.

I don't unfortunately. = Hubby was expecting him to be red roan but I can never tell when they are born. So I wasn't sure if this is just him shedding out to roan or if he's turning grey. Arg! lol

I think your foal is Bay Roan but I am pretty sure he will go Grey- no idea why!!!
Neither of those stallions is a good bet if they particularly want a Black Roan foal (See, this is why we should stop using "blue" Roan- even a moron can work out that to be a Black Roan a horse must be Black, not Bay or Brown or Grey based ymwhisle )
If they want a good foal then I am not the one to comment as I am not a QH lover anyway...........
If they are breeding for colour then a good question would be "Why???"

Well, I still think you would get people calling bay roans black roans. Black is just so much more desired you're always gonna have those who are wishful thinkers. As far as the gray roan, I think he does carry roan so I can understand the confusion.

Well, the came out and loved our boys. :)

Her friend is going to breed as well. She is actually not as interested in color as she made it sound. Maybe it was just a coincidence that she was looking at all blue roans?

They will be bringing both mares tomorrow and want to discuss with us which of our three stallions will suit their mares. The lady who called about Blue is actually leaning more towards our seal bay (as far as complimenting her mare) and her friend will be breeding to Tweetie (the palomino roan) because she fell in love with his overall looks and personality. :)

Oh and the greying foal was born chestnut. I don't think bay roan is an option? Dam is hetero black gone grey (tested no agouti) and sire is black (hetero) roan (also no agouti).
