tricolored pinto

Hey everybody I was wondering a little about the color of my horse, so I thought I'd post his pictures here. He's a dark brown tobiano with copper color on the muzzle, flanks and a little around his eyes. Which is perfectly normal. He does however also has this odd spot on his rear end, also copper colored. This is my horse: And this is his odd spot: The spot is not caused by sun bleaching. This is the other side of his rear end: So any idea what has caused this odd spot? In the summer his entire body turns copper and in the winter he is almost black. However the spot never changes color. Both his sire and dam are dark brown tobianos.

I'd say there is a good chance he is Brown. Also, even though he is obviously Tobiano base he also, obviously, has another pattern, guess would be Splash, although it could be Sabino.
Those marks that look like "bleach" marks are seen a lot, or seem to be, maybe we just get a lot showing up here......

I think he looks splash or sabino on these pictures because he is shedding his winter fur right now.
He is born and bred in northern europe and spalsh/sabino is rather rare in northern european warmblooded horses.

In Denmark (where I live) I've never seen a horse with an odd-colour mark as clear as it is on my horse and I tried googling it and all the brown pinto horses I could find were solid in the brown coloring.

Unless you are in Siberia Splash and Sabino are not rare!
They are the patterns responsible for all "normal" white markings,so if you have a horse with these markings you have a Splash or Sabino.
These patterns are found in Shetlands right through to TBs and are not, to my knowledge, rare in Europe- they certainly are not in England, which is where I am!

I'd love to see a full body picture! I can't make out what else he might have besides tobiano, if anything. I am assuming something since he has some white on his face, haha

Considering that both tobiano and sabino are mutations of KIT, I would not be surprised if they both did that.
