So who has foals due this year?

Forums

I didn't breed any last year, but am planning at least one for next year. Maybe two if I'm overly brave... Who will be giving me my foal fix this year??? It's so bad that I've been thinking of adopting a pregnant mare  LOL. So show Mare and Stallion if you can, I'd love to see and get excited for everyone! I hope Sara comes back to post. I really want to know how Cory is doing!

Andrea Sat, 02/27/2010 - 00:41

Yay! Little foals! THough it tends to make me want one or two... or 5. LOL!
When do you typically foal in Ireland? Or the mares I should say. :rofl

Bannerminis Sat, 02/27/2010 - 08:27

I just have 1 mare in foal - Shadowplay Sahara Moon(BMHS) due May 12th to Birchwood UK Buckeroo Banner (AMHA)
Slaney is Palomino and a suspect Dunalino as she has a dorsal but only visable in her summer coat as she is almost white in winter (Dam was a Red Dun)
Banner is a Buckskin and carries 1 copy of Red, Black and Agouti and of course Cream.

This is my first Banner Baby so really looking forward to the cross as Slaney has produced some lovely foals with other stallions

Slaney (included a pic where you can make out her dorsal)

Banner (excuse his bad hair but he had a clipping accident with his forelock when doing his ears last yr and the his 1/2 neck rug destroyed his mane)

That'll be a lovely baby!
So have you tested her for dun? Looks like a pretty clear dorsal...

I have a section A that barely shows the dorsal in her fuzzies, but when they shaved her back, it's very clear. She was tested positive for dun. So we'll see! I'm more interested in her shedding out to see what the little yak looks like! LOL.

Bannerminis Sat, 02/27/2010 - 15:04

I havent tested her for dun but I thought that you needed some hair samples from 1 of the dun parents also when I looked into it a couple of yrs ago and as that wasnt possible I didnt think I would get an accurate result - I just keep hoping she will give me a dun baby to prove it  :D
When Slaney starts to shed the first thing you see is the dorsal on her back. She has no leg barring but I think she has sooty or somthing as her lower legs are always darker even if I clipped her.
I would love a Dunskin but will probably get a chestnut again

Krickette Sat, 02/27/2010 - 16:26

Andrea, Cory has his own facebook fan page now! http://www.facebook.com/MiKheTosk?ref=p…" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I think she is going to breed Tickle again! Peanut is just *gorgeous*, I think she was thinking of keeping him intact.

Although Nike looks VERY pregnant, no foals for me haha! (He just turned 17 btw! And Jazz turned 4 O_O)

Danni Sat, 02/27/2010 - 18:04

Oh I love seeing everyones foals due!!! Very exciting!!! Mine will be later of course than most here, so I'll have to live through all your foals until our foaling season!

I have a few shettie foals due, two by my homozygous silver (and homozygous black) lad. So no surprises on the silver part. One out of a big heavy Wells bred black mare and the other a little dark bay mare.

[img]http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/5323/c…]

Little shettie due from piebald mare, sire is a buckskin.

[img]http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/8053/a…] [img]http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/2820/j…]

[img]http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/3617…]

Skewbald shettie mare due to a piebald stallion. He carries red, but both are heterozygous tobi. Can't find a pic of him right this second, he's mostly Marshwood bred. Be first foals for her and the little bay.

[img]http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/5412…]

The cob mare in my avatar is due to a red and white cob stallion. She carries red, and he's homozygous tobi, so either red and white, or black and white foal.

There might be another couple due, but not sure. That's enough to keep me occupied anyway!!
Cheers

Danni

At least we get to have our fix of foals from down under when our foaling season is over.

Yes Sue Slaney is the dam of Cruise - I often wonder if he could have dun as being a cremello I dont think it would show physically on him or am I wrong??
Gosh he's a dark silver for a mini! The mini's often seem to have more silver expression? He looks lovely, I love the mini foals so can't wait to see them all!! :D
Isn't he ever.
Though not colour tested to confirm, he's produced Silvers (with a "real" silver look to them LOL) from Non Silver mares, i own a daughter of his (brown) & her full brother is Silver.
I've had several other Silvers & they've been silver Silver coloured, lol.. so this boy gets called Liver Chestnut, Brown etc etc.

Andrea Mon, 03/08/2010 - 11:21

So we still need to hear from Thorwood, Sara, and Inishfal...
Please excuse my spelling... I've had surgery and the pain meds are wrecking my brain! Just foot surgery... Don't worry!

critterkeeper Tue, 03/09/2010 - 07:50

Okay, I have a couple mares expecting, but due dates are a bit "iffy" at best (pasture breeding can be a guessing game and a lot of work for us on "mare watch" ). I swear I will have to get new pixs (just got my camera back yesterday and it's been on the charger ever since - oh and she forgot the camera's USB cable :hammer ). And of course, Luna, the lovely cremello, is "daddy"

Poco Smokey Valley (Valley - dark, dark chestnut) is due "believed" due sometime in late April or early May (and her progress seems to be right on schedule - not bagging up yet, but foal is riding low)
[img]http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i99/j…]

And Maya (sorrel/light chestnut) is also expecting again as Luna did manage to escape a coupe of times into her pasture in May & June last year (we have upgraded and added a double strand of hot wire on top of his fence :BH ). The first time was 3 wks after Goldie was foaled and the second time was about a month later.
[img]http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i99/j…]

All that said, Patches and Samantha are now running with Luna for 2011 foals. Hoping for a couple of buckskins (but there's a chance that we man end up with smokey black out of Samantha - EE/Aa)
