Silver PRE?

has she been brought up before on here? Didn't know PRE's had silver myself I talk with Lesli a lot and follow her blog at Equine Tapestry, and seen she had posted a link to a chestnut PRE who tested as Zz http://www.schlossamerang.de/index.php?id=218 the mare is 3/4ths of the way or so down the page-- Trajana YR- test gg ee Aa CC pp cchch Zz

Where did they test her (they didn't say)?

And how does sooty work on a horse? Because (ee) is supposed to not produce black pigment? But I mean it does (in skin)? So what does it add to the hair, to darken it...and then give it that silver look.

The mane and tail look the same as that one Comico mare that was said to be grey named Despina. http://www.tintagelandalusians.com/sold…

I don't doubt purity, as I feel "pure" is over rated, and since she can be traced back far enough in her pedigree I consider her pure for registry sake. At least this one has papers, where as the other one did not and no pedigree to trace back to.

So what is everyone else opinion on this, you guys have been strangely quiet.

I'm not sure how to read her test results. This is what they have up there:

gg ee Aa CC pp cchch Zz

I understand this is a non-gray chesntut with one dominant agouti allele and one dominant silver allele. But what is "CC" and "pp" and "cchch?"

Maigray Thu, 05/31/2012 - 23:41

You're right, ch should be champagne, and maybe they just have an extra "c" in there. But pearl is supposed to be "prl" and I noticed they used that notation for other horses on the same page. So they know the correct one. I'm totally baffled as to what "C" is.

That's what I thought, CC is supposed to be no cream according to other genetics. I want to know where they had them tested, thought the US was the only place with the champagne test? Not saying Lesli'd jump to conclusions or anything, but I'm feeling a little foolish now that all we have to go on is hear say. I've made posts in other places about Silver being in PRE, and would hate to find out this was all a mistake.

D'oh! Of course! I'm so used to seeing the notation as N/Cr, it didn't even register. Well, assuming the "p" is for pearl and "cchch" is a typo for champagne, then it all makes sense.

Anything else come of this? Or anyone know how Lesli came to her conclusion? I'd hope that it was she saw the actual test results. I noticed she never followed up with a post about her in the blog, so I wasn't sure what happened. Based on how the stud owner describes other colors of the horses they have there, I do not think they are familiar with the genes.

just happened to check up on their webpage to see if anything else was posted, and she no longer has color test results by her photo...although other mares still do...
