Silver Black?

an online friend of mine runs a miniature horse rescue...and they just took in a pair of shetlands that were abandoned...and I thought they looked neat...so could they be black with silver? Or something else? I'm just curious...I think the one with the super long mane is a cutie! LOL [img]http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e111/becbee/Pipsqueak%20Paddocks%20Mi…] she has more pictures of them here: http://www.pipsqueakpaddocks.com/available.cfm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I know..I think she said they were abandoned at an auction house. They are too cute. She said they need gelded and their teeth done and vaccinations and dewormed and all that other good stuff. But as soon as they are ready, she'll have 'em up for adoption. She does wonders on some of these critters she takes in.

Right one silver black the left one could actually be a liver chestnut - so cute wish they were near me !

Oh I think they're both silver black and I would LOVE to have them here. Lucky I'm so far as I can't justify two ponies.
Gosh they're gorgeous though! :love

I can't get past how bright red those legs are (not chocolate like I'd think silver would do). I have seen a couple of liver chestnuts and even dark livery palis that looked like these two - I'm betting liver for both - one with flaxen the other either flaxen or cream.

IME with RMH/KMH, bright red pasterns is not abnormal. The color of the one on the left is also pretty common for black silvers.

FWIW this is a tested black silver:

Homozygous black and homozygous silver as well. I've seen much redder than him (and much darker with red pasterns as well).

Lol, I just put the red colour down to them being ponies. They seem to get more extreme colours than the bigger versions.

the red on the lower legs was what was throwing me..

gads i can't get over how cute Rufio is.....

If they were big horses I would have automatically said liver chestnut, I've ridden a QH the color of the one with the red mane.

Dang they are cute..... :love
