Silhouette's up on Marestare

She's due 2/28 but vet say she'll go early. Just not sure how early. She's streaming clear milk and is flagging her tail a lot. Still very wide though. Need watchers as I'm a nervous wreck that I'm going to miss it! Sire is Frodo and hoping for a spectacular foal! http://www.marestare.com/fcam.php?alias=phoenix" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

She's been up and down tonight and wringing her tail like a propeller! Winking as well.
We just checked on her and she's agitated...

Monsterpony Mon, 01/31/2011 - 23:32

I saw someone pop up on video with the flashlight right after I saw her go lateral. She is just seeing how quick she can drag you out of bed :D

Andrea Mon, 01/31/2011 - 23:42

Yeah. I had watched her for a bit and was concerned she may have been colicing. I wanted to see if she'd get up because she was laying so flat and quiet. Plus I was getting calls and wanted to let people know we were out there.
I love Marestare!

I keep popping in but have missed all the abnormal behavior, she's usually eating or impatiently waiting fo her food when I am watching. She sure is a pretty mare, can't wait to see what the foal looks like. I bet she is swishing her tail because the foal is getting in position though, she's feeling those little hoof's back there.

Well I must say I am a little disappointed. The first thing I did when I got up this morning and turned the puter on was check to see if there was a wee baby :)

Krickette Tue, 02/01/2011 - 19:34

Just hopped on to look and she's missing! I was searching for a second then I realized the door was open. Guess it was time to go for a walk or clean the stall?

critterkeeper Tue, 02/01/2011 - 20:32

Okay Krickette, she's back. I see things blowing around, must be windy and blustery out (like the other 1/2 of the country). Has anyone else noticed that mare's like to go during periods of barometic turmoil?) Maybe they figure the predators are bedded down during the height of the storm making it a prime time to deliver their little bundles of joy.

Well, she was pretty spry today. She was racing around with the other two ponies. She's way lopsided now and still very wide. Milk is still clear/yellowy, but bag is and nips are full.

Last night she finally settled down and was flat on her side everytime I woke up to check. She seems quieter today.
Probably won't be tonight.

Monsterpony Tue, 02/01/2011 - 23:15

When ever she knocks her bucket down, I think that there is something in the stall that could be a baby. I think that she is having fun playing mind games with us :D

critterkeeper Wed, 02/02/2011 - 07:13

Well she made it through another night, safe and sound...just no little bub bouncing around yet... :bounce . It shouldn't be too long once her milk goes white (just a matter of hours then - usually less than 24)...lol

Andrea Thu, 02/03/2011 - 22:27

Well, her milk is yellow/clear and her tailbone is showing more. Her flanks are getting hollow and she's dropping more.
Her bag is super large and ready.
I wonder how long she'll keep me on edge... LOL

Monsterpony Fri, 02/04/2011 - 00:07

She has been up and down since I've been watching her tonight. Maybe that's her equivalent of walking the halls of the hospital to get the baby in gear.

Krickette Fri, 02/04/2011 - 02:08

Right now she's lateral with her eyes open. Lots of ear twitching and shuffling her hind legs!

eta,
now she's up and angry! Lots of wringing her tail and stomping, i think she was nipping at her side, too. Or telling her neighbor to back off haha!

Andrea Fri, 02/04/2011 - 10:56

I was up late watching her and I'm falling asleep at work. LOL.
She's acting so different this time. Maybe cause it was a surprise and she was maiden? LOL.
This tail wringing is new. Is it perhaps loosening up the pelvic ligaments?
