It's free and easy to register. I've been a member for years but only ever go there when things like this come up.

I am SOOOO glad he finally has a good home!! I've been worried about the poor boy. Sadly I doubt she'll get him registered (not that it will matter) and doubly sad is that I'm 100% confident he's gray.

Just curious..... do brindles normally grey out more so than other colors or patterns? Just wondered why there was such a strong chance of him greying out.

No. He just appears to be graying out. He most likely has a gray parent, and is most likely graying out just based on looks. It has ZERO to do with being Brindle.

There are two known types of Brindle, one is Chimeric and is non hereditary the other is unmapped as yet and is hereditary. There is no predisposition to Greying, but if you know Grey as we do, it is quite easy to see the tells.
I am on the fence about this one, but from the depth of colour I think you may be right.
She can register him if she calls him Grey- I think, as I do with the AMHA that someone should call the Arab Society on this, as it is illegal to require someone to falsify a record and a registration document is a legal record of a horses pedigree and colour. A mistake is one thing, and can be rectified, but the actually require someone to put down a colour / pattern that they know is incorrect and does not, in any way shape or form, describe the animal is just wrong. AMHA does it too!
I had the same problem with a Part Bred mare I had who was Sabino roan, on Chestnut. They registered her as Grey and I kicked up merry hell.
In the end they sort of compromised and registered her as Chestnut/Grey but it was a poor compromise and I still winged at them!!
It is not right, to force someone to do this, and my experience was twenty years ago you would have sort of hoped they had moved on since then!

Well, he may start greying out yet.... but at three years of age he should have some greying around his face I'd think..... but whatever his color, he really is beautiful.

Hello All! I am the owner of this grey brindle :)

*He was gelded before he left DeShazer Arabians as a yealing....I have all his paperwork.
*He IS being registered AHA,but they have agreed only to register him as a grey...which is annoying, but I dont truly mind as I know he may very well me grey.
*He is three now and will be 4 later this spring.
*I emailed UC Davis about testing him and have received no reply....so I guess I can just send in a sample? Should I do just the grey test or others? I am sure exoerts on here will know..... ;-)

Just to clear a few things up

CheyAut sent me over and it looks like a fun forum so I joined :D

I didn't read all the way through the end of your first posting, to know if you figured this out but the dam is grey according to this --> http://www.deshazer.com/arabians/Images…" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Not sure if you had already found that out or not. I think on the initial pedigree you posted gm stands for grey mare, gs grey stallion, etc. He is a very cool color though... so enjoy it as long as it lasts :)

Its possible, if he is chimera, that the striping would be gray and not gray. If that was the case the gray portions would gray out normally while the non gray portions would retain color and the stripes would remain no matter how white the gray portions become. It will be interesting to see if that is the case or not.
