Patterns thought to cause reverse blazes

Was just sorting through some photos from a couple of years ago and ran across this colt ad thought his face markings were pretty interesting. What patterns are thought to cause reverse blazes?

It happens when white patterns "fight" to put white on certain areas of the face.
For example splash wants to take the eyes but sabino wants the eyes solid (as in the foal above). Tobiano can be involved as well but I don't think it has to be (although to be honest I don't remember Tobianos involvement for sure).

Wow! I know he doesn't have face white where it should be, but I'd be testing that baby for frame. The topline and under the neck look untouched. Frame fights for those areas to stay solid.

As far as reverse blazes tobiano and splash as Monsterpony said are common culprits. Sometimes in other cases it's just the luck of where white patterns form.

The fight for where white expresses seems to just be a pinto pattern thing. LP and the mixed white patterns Rabicano and Roan seem to leave other patterns be. Sabino will boost expression of LP and mixed white though, but that's a sabino thing.
