Not a happy camper :(

Forums

Poor Ebony, she's not a happy camper tonight...she's "lost" her mom...Misty's given up trying to push her away from the fence, and Princess has decided that Ebony's too loud to hang with right now. She's got such a forlorn look about her. Oh well, she'll get over it. Meanwhile, Pearl's already going heels and noise at it with Skeets about who is head mare now, even tho' Skeets always stayed away from the others until now... Ain't weaning and shifting herd dynamics fun??? :laugh1 Diane

:D I have a neighbor who weaned his colt a week (or so) before the next foal dropped. Not sure if he should have bothered? Mom could have taken care if it for him?

Awww. Poor thing! LOL. It's something they all have to go through, right!
I don't think I'll have a problem as both my mare and foal seem pretty tired of each other :laugh1

I had thought that too...prior to weaning it was more common to see Princess grazing near Pearl and Ebony 400 metres away, grazing with Misty. It was like the two fillies had swapped dams. But Ebony's 8 months old today, so she's plenty old enough. Now if the weather would just get nicer so we can introduce her to the pen :laugh1
