Never seen this before, any ideas??

A friend has asked me to post this pic of her 2yr old filly....when she is clipped as in this pic, her mane is very silver (clipped bridle path reveals the grey roots usually found in silver blacks or bays) and she has this grey "hue" all over her coat, darker on the rump and sides where you can just make out the dapples. She almost looks like those fabrics that are 2 tone or 2 colours depending on how the light hits them. Could this be a silver with chestnut colouring AND maybe the sooty gene?? Sire is silver black and I THINK the dam is palomino but will check to make sure. Any ideas??

Straight Palomino with sooty.
I go for the most straightforward answer first off...she is probably what she looks like and if this were a Welsh pony I would have no hesitation in saying that was what she was.
In fact the Welsh even made up a name for it is was so common....Cream...well, Wales, lovely country but an awful lot of farmers with too many sheep...what can I say??
Imagination is not high on the list of priorities :rofl
Test her and find out for sure.
Silver does not show on Red base, that is it, I am afraid, since there has never, ever been anything to challenge this, I do not see any reason to start.
FYI people, Silver on Buckskin in Minis usually expresses as Buckskin, no real visual effect.
It can turn the mane and tail light in early life, but often does not.
