My new baby girl

Forums

We lost our beautiful lilac tabby siamese boy last month at only four years old- on that day I said never again. We were absolutely wretched with grief as he became ill so suddenly and went so fast, it was a total shock. Soon we decided we wanted another boy and started to look for an oriental black. Here she is  I saw her face on the breeder's website and that was it, she has the most beautiful face. I haven't thought of a name yet- I had some cool boy names thought out but no girl names at all! She loves cuddles and purrs constantly. Wow, she is neat looking. Specially for a black little boy. :rofl I love those faces.

Since the siamese came from what is now Thailand, and the oriental is the self-coloured versions of the siamese, how about some Thai names?

Kanya (girl)
Lawan (beautiful)
Malai (garland of flowers)
Isra (nocturnal journey)
Sumalee (flower)
Mali (also flower)
Tasanee (beautiful view)
Tola (prospering)

We brought her home last night, she is currently hiding behind the spare room bed, which has been stripped as she decided she didn't like the litter tray and wanted to use the duvet instead :( I swear that kitten is 90% bladder
She is so delicate and elegant, like a little bird, and high strung as any fine boned animal is.

Hmm, pondering this and thinking of starting a new thread on this topic. There sure seems to be a correlation, and I wonder what the relationship is.

Beautiful kitty!

Self-preservation of their delicate bodies? She is lovely.

I've reads theories about light boned animals being more nervous and reactive- in breeds like Arabs horses and in species like gazelles.
She (we are calling her Juno) is totally loving she has a huge purr and slept all night with me. She is so quick you literally cannot see her go from A to B, one minute she is one place, the next moment she is somewhere else. She is getting braver and actually used her litter tray properly  after that she went hyper hyper!
Juno already has my big British shorthair girl under her paw too, though you could pack her tiny body into Kali's clunking great head

When our kitties get to racing around with the zoomies, we sometimes call it "rocket butt" and the racing around after using the litter box is either "running the stink off" or a "victory lap" celebration.
*sigh* I love playful kitties! :love

I've definitely seen the correlation as well between lighter-boned animals (cats, dogs, horses) and a high-strung personality. I'm just curious about how that came about.

I have two new pony mares this spring. Both about 13.1-13.2, both chestnut with 2-3 socks and blazes, and both likely from similar breeding (one is registered and the other is grade but I can see the same breeds in both of them). The registered one is extremely finely built and very high-strung. The grade one has much more bone and is nearly unflappable.

It would be interesting to look at the offspring of the same light horse and heavy horse, say, an Arabian and a Warmblood. Would the more Arab-looking foals have a more Arab-like personality?

Beautiful! Love Orientals!

we lost both of ours 2 months and 4 months ago- miss them heaps ):
Ifrit 4yrs (Siamese)

Ash 8yrs (Balinese)
[img]http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b276/…]

Ifrit was so flighty- wow he knew a stranger (to him/them) was coming before they even got a chance to knock on the door.
Ash was verrry laid back but would slink off if a stranger came (once they were already in the house).

Thank you :)
Juno is very ill at the moment. She started vomiting in the middle of the week, she couldn't even keep down water. She spent yesterday at the vet having fluid treatment and a laparotomy which showed she has pancreatitis. It is early days yet so I don't know how it will all go. It is apparently fairly common in some oriental and siamese lines. Great- is it possible to get a pedigree cat that doesn't have genetic problems? I guess winning prizes and getting money from sales is more important than working to keep lines free from inherited diseases and pet owners have to pick up the pieces.

She is good today, had some morphine at the vets and we talked about special diets, its really taking it one day at a time though, she could die tomorrow or live to be 20. I thinks thats the way it will always be with her from now on.

I am so sorry that Juno is having such a hard time of it ...we get so attached to our babies that it is really upsetting when they are ill. She is young yet, :ympray: so she makes a "full" recovery (whatever that means when it comes to intestinal issues).
