Second set of pics. There is one pic that looks like he has tiny spots on his side. He DOES NOT. It was pollen and dust particles that got caught on film. These are of him and Dixie. The next set will be of markings. Diane your help with the "butt pattern" and legs/black points/silver nose etc. would be great. (do you think he will shed out to be a plain bay with a pattern or that he may change even more like Dixie.

Third set:
Sorry for so many pics but I have waited a LONG time for a foal! I just adore him. He is perfectly healthy and needs to work out his funny legs but he is only 4 days old and pretty big, especially for not having pre-natal care. I was VERY VERY LUCKY. He is not going anywhere!
We named him SCOUT.

That is the million dollar question. I am so excited to see how he turns out. I know it could change so many ways but I love him like he is right now too! He appears to be gaited but it is hard to tell right now. Maybe another WALKALOOSA???

I wonder if she was bred to a TWH or APPY?? He could have picked up that pattern from his mom, right? She is a walkaloosa but has the appy body with TWH mane/tail and gait.

I am excited to see what the appy people think....

Thanks! He isn't bad for a surprise huh??? I had the shortest wait time in history. About 2 days until I had a foal! lol. I like it that way... I expected a spotted zebra with my luck. Eddie was SO funny. He went down to the barn but didn't turn on the lights. He just shined a flashlight in there and was shocked. He only saw that he was dark and his ears.. He said Oh crap, we have a mule!!! lol. I LMAO!! He ran back to the house so excited and woke me up... He said "we have a baby".. I said what does it look like? He said I don't know. I said what color is it...he said I don't know.. I said is it a boy or a girl... He said I don't know. I think it is a mule!!! lol. Too funny. He was more emotional than me. I was just in shock and so happy.

The sad part is that Honey watches through the fence every day and calls to it over and over again. It is so sad. I think she wanted a baby!

Morgan and I just came back in from the barn. He is such a mess. I got some great new pics of him. I will have to load them.

He is super cute, looks very TWH in the second picture. I had one with a snowflake pattern like that when I was young and he did roan. I hope yours stays bay, its very pretty. It looks like he has maybe Dun factor too on his shoulders and I think Im seeing a dorsal stripe.

Heck ya!!!! A big DC would be awesome!!!!!! Can I put in a special order for that somewhere???

I am still trying to figure out if his mom DIXIE is a leopard that greyed or just a leopard. I still can't tell if her spots are black or bay. For sure the spots when she is wet are black and some of her large spots when dry appear to be black but some of the smaller ones look a lighter bay??? Hmmm. I remember when I was showing dalmatians for years there was a a fault called "Bronzing" and it made black spots appear bronze. It was really cool to me but not to a judge. I have been doing rescue only for over 20 years now though.

Any guesses on Dixie..????

How in the world does one register apps and have it turn out right??? Kills me. I should get it all, I just don't. Explain that to my medically induced brain right now! lol.

I can't remember...there are no baby/early photos of the dam, right? So we don't know what her original phenotype is, or if this "washed out" lack of pattern is her original phenotype...right?

Colour-wise, I think he's gonna be a gorgeous dark/rich bay colour. Bit "concerned" about what looks like 'ticking' behind his blanket, as that could be sabino roan ticking or if it's the appy roaning-out ticking. So, for now, I really can't make a guesstimate, but would like to compare pix after he's done his foal shed.

If Dixie is grey, I'm gonna hazard that the little one didn't get it...I'm not seeing goggles on him. For Dixie's spots, well, welcome to Lp-land! LOL Appies can have what is called "sunspots" which look 'golden', even if the horse is black, and well, Lp likes to funkify black anyway...and some bay appaloosas are so dark you think they're black. I'd run extension/red factor, agouti and grey tests on Dixie.
