Morgan!

I can't believe you and V are going to Hawaii. So, do you mind if I ask the rates? Do they sedate her? Are you going to be on the same plane?

Haha yeah I can hardly believe it too! It was a little over $4000 total with the trucking from oklahoma to LA and then the flight (Pacific Airlift), a cargo plane. The flight itself is $3000. No sedation, it's just like a trailer ride but a vet rides with them to make sure everything is ok. She's going a week or two ahead of me on the 17th. I'll be out of here as soon as we can pack up, take a bunch of junk to auction and find a home for Jigsaw, the plan at the moment is around the 24th.

Taking a horse is actually easier than a dog. All the horse needs is a cogginswithin 90 days, health certificate and sponged down with fly spray within 7. Then kept from nose contact with other horses for 45 days after arrival (which quarantine happens right on the boarding farm.)

Dog and cat is something like 120 days at the state quarantine facility and tons of tests and shots and a microchip. Around $2500. You can avoid the 120 days if you did the rabies test 120 days before leaving and its had at least 2 rabies shots but we dont have that kind of notice. In the end we decided the long quarantine wasn't right for the 8 month old lab Yuki and she's got a good home with a friend with a 6 month old black lab for a buddy. Jiggy is still here though, I dont know why its taking so long to home him :-/ He can't really come no matter, our apartment is up three flights of stairs and his hip goes out every now and then. We're planning to adopt a homeless dog when we get there rather than the quarantine and the cost.
