Welcome welcome!
Hard to see but - it looks like a sabino roaning - possibly with perhaps another pattern? Kind of like the HAAP Snowy River arabian line?
Tough one... thinking DW though.
I was skeered to say it.

I honestly can't see base color at all though.

Well, that face is saying "splash" big time, IMO. So maybe an extreme expression of splash and/or splash + something.
Yes I agree. DW + splash.
Excuse my ignorance.... Im horrible with genetic, color and patterns lol... what is DW?

CheyAut Mon, 05/03/2010 - 22:25

Agree with the DW and I was also thinking splash. I also believe silver black for the color.

DW is Dominant White. If you search the forum here you'll read about it :) There's also a link or two to a page with more info that I"m sure someone will share (ACC?)

So would he be considered a silver black DW Overo + splash?

The color actually has a bit of a red tint to it... it is silvery though... I'm totally lost on his color lol

rabbitsfizz Tue, 05/04/2010 - 09:00

Well, you can test for Silver, has DW been found in AmShetlands??

*goes off to twitch in the corner at use of "overo"!!* ;)

Lol, every time I see that word where-ever it is I think 'oh no someone is wrong on the internet' and then I think....wonder if Rabbit has seen this?

To know the silver you'd probably have to test. Normal blacks with heaps of sabino seem to get a reddish tint to it sometimes. You could test for sb1, and frame overo to check them. If they are all negative you could call him a black pinto, or specifically a black with splash, DW and sabino!!

Other than that sorry I can't be much help!

rabbitsfizz Thu, 05/13/2010 - 11:47

I do think it is Silver. Plus Sabino, yes, but the Sabino is not responsible, I do not think, for the solid patch round the eye being remarkably Silver like.
I would test the horse.

Here's "JD" after a hair cut & a bath. This was my feeble attempt at getting him set up... horrible attempt, I know, but hey... I barrel race, not show Shetland Ponies lol!! He looks short b/c my photographer was standing inside my horse trailer to he could see the screen on my iphone. Stupid sun...

You guys can see his color/pattern better now anyways since hes shed out. Any comments welcome.
